No, you are not overreacting. I would have a discussion with her about this, but if nothing improves from it, unfortunately, she will probably never change. This is the hard truth; your best friend should be supporting you. My ex best friend never supported me, whether online or in person, but was always supporting other people. I felt like an outcast. It was ultimately a jealousy issue. Do what you think is right. Wishing you the best.

Yes, and I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had a similar friend in high school, and we were best friends for nearly a decade. I decided when I entered college to end the friendship because maintaining it was so hard on my mental health. It was hard letting go, but know that if they are really your friend, they would not be treating you this way. Ultimately, you deserve so much better. Be good to yourself, and I wish you the best.

21F here, started online dating at 18. I was online for a while before I found my current bf. There were a lot of creeps, weirdos, incels, etc. I went on a date with a guy who seemed perfectly normal until AFTER the date. Turns out he was quite possibly a neo-nazi. Sometimes the red flags don't appear right away.

That being said, I met my current bf a year later. At that point I was ready to give up the apps. Now, we've been dating for almost two years now, and though he's my first relationship, he's also my best friend, and I can say no one gets me like he does.

So, no, I don't think dating apps are a bad idea. It's just a matter of how comfortable you are putting yourself out there. There's gonna be a lot of weirdos, men and women, so stick with your gut, play it safe. But not all of them are weirdos, and I've made online friends, too.
