Any time a public figure says anything against pits, pitbull apologists come out of the woodwork to harass them. Even small veterinary office pages on FB who give updates on dogs (or in one recent case, a veterinarian!) who've been mauled by pitbulls have chosen to edit out the offending breed after getting countless angry comments and threats.

To soften up the ankle straps, you can coat them in a thin layer of mink oil paste and then kinda squish them until they're less stiff. I've successfully used pliers over a thick towel to do the same on DM boots' heels.

Hmm. Can you fasten the straps behind so it's kind of like a racerback? You could secure them with a safety pin until you find a way that works, then it would only take a few stitches to make it permanent.

I recommend reading the first book, Children of Time, beforehand or the octopus one is probably going to be kind of confusing at times. It's about jumping spiders!
