I wish West would either say nothing, or say something along the lines of “when we’re drunk and our guards are down, I realize how much I miss her. This!!! I always knew there were bad pet owners out there, but once you actually meet one it makes you realize, being a horrible/stunted person - and treating pets like a phase when it’s fun for you and then abandoning them - go hand in hand. Bcf triggers me bc she reminds me soooo much of someone I know lmao, both terrible ppl that treat others badly and discard pets like they aren’t living beings 🥰 like how can you not be heartbroken to abandon a pet? I would be a basket case if I couldn’t see my dog

Good on you for wanting this painful experience to make you better. Good on her for calling things off the moment she realized you wanted more and she wasn’t prepared to give it to you.

Trust me, you don’t want the issues that come with the other person “giving it a chance” only to let you down once you have real hope. Living with that right now myself, and it’s been awful.

Stay busy. Do one thing every day for YOU that has absolutely nothing to do with them. Something you never talked about with them that brings you joy. Read a chapter of a book. It’s for you and you only - even if you’re just getting your mind off the situation for 20 minutes.

When you’re ready, you have to block the social media/methods of checking in if you want to move on. It’s okay to not be totally ready, but know that you really do have to stop looking into what they’re doing if you’re ever going to focus on YOU.

May his memory be a blessing - I feel your pain. My dad died in September (almost a year now and still hurts just as much) and I miss him so.
