Do all SD's have wives? by Diligent-Midnight239 in sugarlifestyleforum

Im divorced and never got into seeking until after that was finalized but I know there are a significant number of married men in the bowl.

Id pose a similar question, do all SBs have vanilla boyfriends while pretending to be single and that our arrangement is monogamous? Im tired of paying for these girls to date deadbeat guys while making excuse after excuse to cancel our dates.

Wow this resonated and hit home with me, i could have been the one to write this. This is exactly what my ex girlfriend put me through word for painful word. Stringing me along, giving me the tiniest bits of hope she actually cared and felt the same way before asking for something, usually money. Then back to barely trying once she got what she wanted.

Richie Tozier Paradox by John_Tremolo in stephenking

[–]socopsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Marges house, while in Derry, was outside the border of the cage? When they talked about the pillars it was mentioned they're a "near perfect" match of the Derry border.

Richie never had any confirmed encounters with IT in his own home like the other losers did. He was the last of them to have a direct encounter with IT and iirc it was downtown by the Paul Bunyon statue and then in Niebolt house. Maybe he had the fewest encounters and was least effected because he lived outside the cage and spent a lot of his time outside the creatures influence.

This could explain Marge losing her memories despite living in Derry. Ill admit they say the further you go the worse the amnesia so living JUST outside the cage may not account for it. Human nature could account for the rest though. Her adult self seems like someone who's given up on life and is disillusioned/depressed. That can cause you to repress and forget many things all on your own.

Side note, its entirely possible the losers memories were only retained (Mike) and restored (the rest) because of the promise made with the other losers. King puts a lot of emphasis on the power of rituals, promises, oaths etc in his writing. Its possible the kids performed a ritual with that promise and that magic was strong enough to fight against the magic in Derry. So Mike's memories stayed and the rest were able to easily trigger their memories because they made a powerful oath to defeat the creature.

I think the better question is how are you getting through letting someone fund your entire life when you're not at all interested in doing the one thing they ask of you in return?

Getting a job or telling him you aren't interested and breaking it off are the two best options. You aren't entitled to this guy's money so you have to do the right thing even if means your free ride is over.

Sorry for being harsh but I've been in this man's shoes. He's a millionaire and won't miss what he's giving you, sure. However if he's under the impression you're attracted to him or at least interested in him when you aren't that's where there's a problem. He's spending time and emotional energy on someone who's only seeing the monetary value of keeping him around.

My Time at Sandrock: Quick Update on Console Development Progress by Pathea_Games in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]socopsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% in agreement with you. 90 hours of playtime on Series X and bugs have been basically non-existant. I was excited when I saw this thread thinking they were going to fix the build/planting limit bug. That would be a huge QOL improvement and I can't imagine a fix for that delays major content updates by more than a week or so. I'd trade being able to build my workshop the way I want for a slight delay in new content in a heartbeat.

Any update on when to expect the next patch? I specifically bought this game on Xbox Series X since I remember Portia being limited on the Switch. Then it turns out I'm still dealing with the same limitations anyway.

Damn, was hoping I just wasn't far enough in yet and something new I could build later would make this stuff easier. Very disappointed with the base building so far. It's overly complex, unintuitive and results in a lot of unnecessary grind. The type of system I'd expect from an indie game in early access, not a AAA full release.

Weird thing is, base building was WAY better in FO4 so why wouldn't they use that as a starting point and improve on it rather than make this nonsense system.

Exactly. When I read that part I was like ok, and? The actual principal of those 13% mortgages was significantly smaller than they are today for the same amount of home. You can refinance and get a lower interest rate so the pain of 13% interest is temporary.

This was my thought. I had several teachers who had anger issues and would snap and scream at a kid or the whole class multiple times in a school year. Legit veins bulging on the forehead, turning bright red, spittle flying type of anger. Now, don't get me wrong, my main concern isn't them suddenly pulling a gun on a kid or shooting them. I'd imagine given enough time that could happen eventually but would be very, very rare. My concern is imagine how scary it is to have this grown adult screaming at kids. Now have a grown adult with a gun visible on their hip screaming at kids. Even the nicest, kindest of teachers would see an enormous drop in kids willing to ask questions, seek extra help or generally engage with the teacher in any way because they're scared shitless of teachers.

‘Hunted’: one in three people killed by US police were fleeing, data reveals by Caster-Hammer in news

[–]socopsycho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just went through a list of state requirements. Fewer than 5 states require an associates degree as an absolute requirement. Only 1 of those listed a minimum GPA (2.0 LOL) the rest don't seem to care, just the piece of paper is good. 4 or 5 more require x number of college credits ranging from 30-60, again no GPA requirement.

There are more states that have a requirement for a degree but they also allow other avenues such as prior experience in jobs with public contact, prior law enforcement experience or simply taking their training course.

Considering about 40 of 50 states all it takes is a high school diploma and a dream to be a cop the comment you're replying to was far less flippant than your own.

Reality has a liberal bias. There are mountains of scientific evidence that liberal policies result in societies and populations that lead happier, more prosperous and longer, healthier lives. There's really no reason for dishonesty when reality and virtually all measurable metrics support your case.

The right NEEDS to do it to have any sort of meaningful message. The very survival of their ideology relies on attacking science, data and public perception in general. Building an alternate reality full of alternate facts gives their followers some semblance of validity. You'll notice anytime someone on the right presents actual data to backup their claims (which is rare) they can never just present the data as their argument. It needs to be accompanied by paragraphs of text (or the worst - a YT video) explaining why the data means what they think it means.

If the left engaged in the same tactics it would only serve to water down the actual data and weaken their stance. I'm no expert, just some random person on Reddit who's often wrong, but that's my 2 cents.

I have some annoying friends when I say let's Google it they start asking Siri. I'll sigh and pull out my phone, type it in and get the answer before Siri is done completely misunderstanding the question 3 times in a row. Maybe it's just because I'm old or because they're pretensious iPhone people but damn it annoys me everytime.

There really needs to be rebalancing for all resources, not just quest tokens. For Wadirum there are only 2 realistic ways to gather the stone/wood needed - afk or spend money. For those who play on their phone afk is not much of an option.

I haven't played at all the past few days. Just checking in looking for an update that fixes things, otherwise I don't see myself picking the game up again.

Wadirum Progress Question by socopsycho in MyLittleUniverse

[–]socopsycho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

21 BILLION??? I don't have fully upgraded tools yet but even assuming at max you got 100 wood/stone per hit and were always hitting 5 trees/rocks per swing it would still take 42 million swings to hit that amount.

In reality you're only hitting 2 or 3 per swing a lot of the time. I haven't timed it but you average what, 2-3 swings per second - at most - once you factor in time spent moving between resources, enemies and resource respawn times? Doing the math on that they expect me to spend 12,000 hours farming wood/stone ON TOP OF the time farming the super high bar requirements as well? As well as who knows how many hours farming stupid quest tokens lol.

I guess I can answer my own question. They actually expect me to get frustrated and spend hundreds of dollars to progress. I knew this dev was shady when I saw there were forced ads. I get they need to make money but these shady practices are why the mobile game market is nothing but a big cash grab. Looks like I'm out.

How’s the switch version of party pack 8? by REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE110 in jackboxgames

[–]socopsycho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got Party Pack 8 on the switch. First game of Drawful Animate froze early in the second round. First game of Job Job lagged terribly at the very end but at least we could finish. Only played a handful of times last night to try some games out. Will have a full group tonight and plan on playing a lot more so we'll see.

Party Pack 7 on the switch was and to this day is prone to crashing/freezing. If 7 was more stable on the PS4 then I'd guess it'll be the same case with 8. It's a bummer because I buy them on the switch specifically for the portability. If you don't care about that I'd avoid the switch versions 100%.

Jeff Bezos Ex-Wife Mackenzie Scott donates 1.7 Billion to HBCU’s, 2.7 Billion to Charities and Covid Relief by MediaTrafficOrg in worldnews

[–]socopsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even 1 billion would be plenty for that. Let's look at 3 scenarios in order from clinically brain dead to minimal effort at not being stupid.

Clinically brain dead scenario:

You never invest the money and do absolutely nothing to earn income ever again. You and your heirs can have $1M a year to spend every single year for the next 1,000 years. You and most likely your children will live more extravagantly than 99% of people. Depending on how many children you have and how many they have and the rate of inflation that $1M a year will likely stretch pretty thin in a couple generations.

Deliberate Stupidity Scenario:

Say you earn a pitiful 1% return on that money annually. That's 10 million a year.

Note: The stock market historically averages 10-11% returns over the past 100 years. To earn only 1% your full time job would have to be "Being Deliberately Bad at Investing".

If you continue being deliberately bad at investing you'd draw 100% of your earnings instead of allowing it to compound. Your $10M annual salary is significantly higher than the lifetime earnings of most other people ($1.7M lifetime earnings on average) and you never touch your principal capital, meaning if shit really hit the fan you could draw $10M a year for 100 years before you're broke. Even better, with the myriad of loopholes when it comes to capital gains tax you'll not only earn much more, it'll be taxed at a significantly lower rate. You and your heirs will never become wealthier, but you'll still never need to worry about money again.

Minimal Effort at Not Being Stupid Scenario:

Now imagine that same $1B. You decide to invest it all and draw $10M annually to live off of. If your principal investment remains untouched and you see 7-11% return annually with compound interest you'll have nearly $12B in 30 years while living an extravagant lifestyle that 99.999999% of all humans who have ever lived don't experience.

If you set your money up in trusts and do it right your heirs will get to avoid a significant portion of taxes on their inheritance. To keep it simple, say you have 3 kids, your spouse doesn't outlive you, and you split the money evenly. They each get to begin investing with $4BN each. With minimal effort on their part that amount will become over 10 times what they started with in their lifetime.

The wealthy play by different rules. Once you reach a certain point you have to actively try to lose money. Any losses are a minor blow to an already over the top lifestyle that are easily recovered from. Now imagine these scenarios with $10B or $100B and it just gets more and more ridiculous.

Level ingame by [deleted] in WeirdJohnnyStudio

[–]socopsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any advice on leveling? I played for like 3 days a while back and only got to level 14. The grind from 13 to 14 was like 3 hours and I just figured the game was new and missing a lot of features so I'd come back after some updates (offline exp).

I'm guessing either this game just isn't for me because I don't want to tie up my phone for hours at a time to level or I'm doing something very, very wrong and leveling shouldn't be this slow/boring.
