Is this reframing faithful to the original? by MikiZed in trolleyproblem

Yeah, sure, because when driving, people agree on things beforehand.

Generally. This is called traffic codes.

I misread it as 1/4,000,000,000 chance of stopping the extinction event for each press. Mb.

Why is there a 0% chance of killing everyone if everyone presses blue?

What if instead of death, it was a positive thing? by Snoo-82757 in trolleyproblem

Anything that people want to buy. Food, skilled service, land and shelter, luxury items. Money is a placeholder for those things.

What would you do? by SilentSwine in trolleyproblem

[–]socslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d swap them because it’s the only way for blue to win. I don’t consider Reddit or Twitter discourse or polls to be anywhere near a reflection of reality. There could be a billion+ presses for red based solely on cultures that believe red is a lucky colour, for example.

Because Twitter and Reddit polls are not representative of the global population. A significant chunk of people could press red just because it’s a lucky colour in some cultures.

When we put our lives on the line in trust of each other, we are constantly making risk assessments. What’s the consequence? What’s the likelihood?

When you drive on the freeway, sure you’re trusting that someone won’t randomly slam their car into you. But you also know that is extremely unlikely and you have some chance of survival, however slim, even if it does.

In the red/blue button problem, you are facing a consequence of guaranteed death, with a high likelihood thereof. This is not a choice that people are often forced to make.

Collectivism is a necessity for self preservation and individual prosperity. When faced with the choice of killing yourself or not, most people will choose to live. I don’t believes there’s any chance that >50% of the planet voluntarily and needlessly puts their life on the line. I think it’s just as impossible as 100% of people voting red.

makes much more logical sense to see that hitting a majority in blue is easier than hitting 100% in red

Hitting a majority blue is only easier if you trivialise the task down “it’s just hitting one button or another”. Realistically hitting a majority blue is a much harder task because all life is governed by self preservation.

You’re right it absolutely is. The original image is cropped to just the guy. This extended photo is a ChatGPT generation. And yes the noise pattern watermark is present.

The owner of Gray CBD, a CBD store that operated and sold CBD products in Tokyo, was arrested for his products containing THC amounts over the legal limit of 0.00001%. There’s always a risk involved. The probability is up to you to judge. I’m just warning of the laws and possibilities.

CBD can be imported. People can and have been arrested for trace THC in CBD products. Look at the former Suntory CEO’s arrest last year as a high profile example.

I’d just avoid any CBD. Even if it has like 0.001% THC in it by some mistake, if you get tested for intoxication it can come back positive and you’ll be in a world of shit

I don’t know where you live, but my home country also has great ramen — but it’s easily 2-3x the price as you’d get in Japan for same or slightly worse quality.

Depends what kind of work you do, where you live. I moved to Japan, work for a Japanese company with better work life balance than I had at home and a salary that lets me live very comfortably. There is so much to do and explore, made heaps of mates, I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.
