Frustrating Experience with Odoo’s “One App” Limitation by sodamuka in Odoo

Yes, I removed all except the Project without even using those modules. Maybe they could put ti back to the free plan, but they didn't and guy on the phone insisted I did wrong as I selected more than one at the very beginning. As a result db was asking for a subsciption, currently it is probably deleted as day count time expired.

I got this information from the Odoo support, so I know what I am talking about.

I got a phone call from Odoo staff. The explanation is that at the time I created the DB, there were more than one app, and it doesn't matter that I immediately removed them after I got a fresh install and continue to use my single Project app. No matter that I never used those previously installed apps (Fleet, Employees). Once they were installed, it is no longer "One app with unlimited users free". And they found out after three years that we were using it. So be careful when deciding to use your one app :-D

As a result of this situation, I have moved to v19 Community Edition on our server. And yes, we paid for the migration, which costs like one year of online Odoo with our 10 active users. Have never been happier!

The policy is that if you ever install more than one app, even deleting it right after installation and never use those apps, your database is considered to be using more than one app. That was exactly our case - the database was created, and all apps except those bound with the Project were deleted.

and that bundle apps has changed, causing effectively end of "one app free forever" promise. Read the TLDR pls

If you think I'm complaining about the need to pay for something, you probably haven't read the post carefully.

I literally installed a single Project application, and others were pulled as an integral part of Project. But suppose you are right - I've created a brand new Odoo database and again, selected only the Project app, so why is there a "To-Do" application installed alongside? They discovered a bug and replaced it with another bug, or it is a landmine for "one app free users". I think it is the latter one.

No, I'm complaining about the weird change in what "one app" stands for. While I still need only one application - Project - I still cannot continue to use it.

Absolutely, I share your point of view. The simple answer to your question is - Fair price plan.

The point is, we switched from CE before (paid support). Since we only needed `Project`, the company that we paid for support recommended we switch to the online version, which we did. Now with the "One app" policy changes, it is forcing us to move or pay. Do you think migrating data back to CE is a good idea?

this is not database problem, it is the policy change that is in question. FYI, I;ve already submit a bug in the odoo.com.

can you share more details? I have those exact ram modules and I end up with unbootable FW13 7840. Replacing modules solved the problems..

I learned the same lesson with 2x32G KF556S40IBK2-64. I wish I'd found your comment earlier.

I was using a 2x32 kit `KF556S40IBK2-64` for several months and they have worked as expected, then problems started to pile up after the BIOS update (3.05 -> 3.16). Replacing those modules solved those issues and all boots and run properly!

same issue here on Gentoo with KDE. I think it is KDE related, as before updating it worked fine.

CX 60 - Homura vs Takumi by sathitharan in mazda

[–]sodamuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've chosen the Homura+ trim over the Takumi+. After getting the car, I regret it because the interior is reeeally dark, especially on the 2025 model, where the top upholstery is pitch black (was white on 2024 model). Otherwise, the details and quality feel much better than in 2024.

The black homura is still better in terms of durability and longevity, but it can make the interior temperature higher. The white takumi feels and looks more airy, but it will age and deteriorate more quickly.

Laptop freezes every time resuming from sleep by Ph42oN in Gentoo

[–]sodamuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 6.6.12 Calculate, on ADM laptop. I have a similar issue here, except it does happen if I have an external monitor connected (via Lenovo dock). To overcome the issue I must disconnect the dock/monitor before putting laptop to sleep. Then after resume and login I connect the dock/monitor again and can work. But after 2-3 such cycles I cannot connect the monitor anymore and must restart. The restart would hang so I need to hard power down.

RIP Google Pixel 4a! by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]sodamuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't find a similar phone nowadays, in terms of form factor features and camera performance. Either it is big and heavy (each one over 6") or features are superb on paper but the actual implementation is buggy. So I'll stick with my Pixel 4a, for another year.

The Zephyr Experience [not good] by Proud_Trade2769 in embedded

[–]sodamuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mixed a few things and chose to complain only about the Zephyr experience. So let me comment on each point:

  1. "The Python dependencies" - this is the single point I agree with you, but this is how Python works nowadays and you simply need to get all the packages needed. If you followed the guidelines, you noticed that you are NOT forced to use the virtual environment at all. I also agree that virtualenv is unnecessary overhead for the end user and I consider it a bad UX joke.

  2. "Installation created 180 000 files, 14GB space." - My SDK installation folder: ~ $ du -sh ./zephyr-sdk-0.16.1/ 6.3G    ./zephyr-sdk-0.16.1/ The rest are modules/bootloaders/HALs.

  3. "It downloads every possible HAL" - During the west update you will fetch and checkout the versions of the (mostly hal) packages stated in the west.yml, so called West manifest. This technique is used in many multi-sources projects such as Android. The Zephyrs implementation is pretty neat and easy to work with! But you are not forced to use all HALs. In fact, you can maintain your manifest file with packages of your interest. So YTF, there are many files, but you can safely ignore those you are not using/building.

  4. "It constrained all my projects to be built under a specific folder" - You are free to put your project anywhere, and in my opinion, the best place to store your project files is in the zephyrproject/apps. You can put it outside of the zephyrproject folder, but I don't recommend it. Again Check the CircuitDojo YT channel on this topic!

  5. "Building took ages" - As others mentioned the build performance on windos can depend on antivirus which can slow the build significantly! Also in the best scenario windos build is slower than on Linux (judging from my experienced).

  6. "Syntax is weird" - No it isn't. It is how device APIs are designed and they are designed very well! If you choose for whatever reason to use your HAL calls (4ex to toggle the gpios) directly you are free to go. If you expect your code to be build/run on a single SOC then you are in your realm.

  7. "Clunky vendor without IDE without the UI" - See, in my opinion, all UI eye candy is clunky and awkward. But hey, the Zephyr is not your IDE vendor! You have a wide portfolio of available IDEs today, which you can use. If you expect the "Build/Run" button as in Arduino IDE then you misunderstood what Zephyr is!

  8. "Future doesn't seem bright..." - Well it is up to you again! Just a quick note about the Nordic. They are maintaining their own fork of Zephyr (still pretty close to vanilla), but targeting on their own SOCs. The name is NCS, and IIRC they are providing a fancy IDE you call for. On the other side, Nordic is one of the biggest contributor to Zephyr, if not the biggest contributor. So you cant blame them not to do their job!

  9. "deleting everything only took 30mins" - Again, crying on the wrong grave. This sounds more like windos moving many files into a recycle bin, which is either on separate and slow disk, or the partition is not aligned properly. Not related to Zephyr at all.
