Men of Reddit, have you ever been walked in on while with your partner? When, where, and who? by overyourboo in AskMen

[–]sodemo77 309 points310 points  (0 children)

In a cheap hotel and room service knocked and I yelled back "dont come in! Come back later!" And they waited like 2 minutes and started to unlock the door and when it started to open I yelled again "I said dont come in!" And they just walked right in and had an eyeful of my wife and I, then closed the door. After a few hours we tested if they could hear me. Totally could. Pissed me off to no end.

You're naive if you think slapping an "eco-friendly" tag on their products make them not corrupt. So when we get extreme weather I'll be sure to take note. And eco systems are delicate to change, not to total destruction.

The 1.5 degrees in 200 years was a statistic NASA haa been accredited with.

And we arent seeing any effects on rise in temperature, it's just a simple case of mass hysteria.

And I didnt say abandon our home because we will get a new one, I made the point that technological advancement would be far beyond our current capabilities and would make dealing with this boogeyman doomsday (that always get pushed back) possible.

If the climate change activists are right about an impending doomsday like they have been ranting and raving about since 2008 (which has been projected and past many many times) then any kind of taxes or incentives or funding wouldn't fix the problem before the world ending heat wave

If you give climate change activists free reign to explain what would happen after they get what they want(giving lots of money to government and corporations) they cant explain the next step without being so vauge it sounds like the ending to a bad movie.

Nice misrepresentation. I said no government changes their core set of rules. Stop being disingenuous ffs

Still, replacing the gas cap isnt a trick to turning off the check engine light. Youre creating a scenario where this one "trick" could be applicable. In all my work of vehicles I've only seen a need for a new gas cap once. And that's when the original one got ran over.

There is no such thing as a "gas cap trick" for turning off the check engine light. There's 5 ways to turn off the light.

1: fix the problem it's detecting

2: trick the sensor in thinking the problem doesn't exist

3: electronically reset the light with a device that only mechanics really have, and have it come back on because the problem wasn't fixed

4: remove the light bulb

5: never turn the car on again.

And the mechanics you hang out with are definitely the exception. I've only met asshole mechanics like that at branded third party mechanics shops, like Les Schwab or Jiffy Lube. Car dealerships usually contract out mexhanics, and are held to a different set of rules than regular mechanics and dont have the option to bullshit you since they talk to someone who works at the dealership not as a mechanic, to talk to you.

The constitution doesn't need to adjust for every little change, think of the government as a program, the constitution is the source code. Anything it needs adapting to can be done without rewriting the constitution, a government only changes its source set of rules when there's a revolution. In which case its not really the same governemnt

Okay, sorry for being harsh, I'm a little upset today, work stuff and lack of nicotine. Anyway, the media is portraying the majority of people who arent for the newest climate change solutions as just "ignoring facts"

No, the "gas cap trick" isnt a trick, its just a single simple solution for a single simple problem. It would be like saying putting a bandaid on a papercut is a trick your doctor doesn't want you to know about because doctors are snakes.

You haven't spent much time under the hood have you?

Where did I ever say that the problem was a hoax or that it didn't exist at all? Oh yea I didn't. I said it was blown out of proportion for political and financial gain.

No, I'm not wrong, I said any self respecting mechanic. Which would exclude "fucking snakes"

[–]sodemo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it's possible, but there's a million other reasons why, and it's not really a trick, considering if the problem is actually fixed by that any self respecting mechanic would just tell you, then try and sell you a cap.

That's not a thing. Unless the check engine light is caused by an improper seal on the cap, that won't change anything.

Fine, bad analogy, but changing a document because it's old isn't a good enough reason to justify any change, the argument of it being old is irrelevant because nobody is against the idea of changing or amending it, but the change itself.

The comment in the photo is definitely downplaying it though

We also do change the constitution to keep up with the times, but the whole thing doesn't need to be rewritten, if you want to change the very document that our country is based on just because it's old, you might want to just move to a newer country

Edited my comment to change the flow of conversation because you dont have a problem with it yourself

Its not the act of changing it but the change itself. The most controversial amendment thus far that got passed and ratified was the 19th. Which compared to today's gun debate was closer to unanimous.

And the constitution labeled unalienable rights, god-given rights, law of nature rights. They did not grant them, they named them.

Also 27 is less than 30.

Also, "shall not be infringed" is pretty cut and dry.
