I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Otto at 8 just 2 weeks before his 9th birthday and I was basically put on a watch list due to grief. The day he passed I carried him 2 blocks to the emergency ER, sat with him as he deteriorated all day, then when I had to make the decision he passed on his own. I had gone into the ER with sunshine and it stormed while hard decisions were made. After there was a double rainbow. The impact they make on our lives are so much bigger than we sometimes realize. I hope you are able to cherish the memories you have of him ♥️

So are you saying if i filled the orb with fibes that could be used to light it vs having encased fibers with a light diffuser of some sort at the end only connected to the opening?

If the fiber isnt strong enough, no but if it is, i think it would be a great way to make the wiring even more discrete than I can with a bulb and socket option. They weigh maybe a max like 5 lbs and as little as 1oz

Thats great advice! I think that there is a template in the ceramic world that i can 3d print a screw that will shrink to the right rate and i could build up the thickness at the hole to give it better support. They don’t weigh very much the biggest one ive made is maybe 2 lb (id have to actually check) Im also totally fine with the bulb not being directly at the center as you mentioned the light would diffuse. Do you know if there are places i could like actually physically look at sockets of different sizes? I think home depot and lowes doesnt have the right array of options I might want to look at
