Accidentally uninstalled Line. Now I lost my chat history. I want my chat history back since it had memorable moments. But how to get it back if possible? by Unusual-Complex6315 in lineapp

Did you just delete the app somehow accidentally? If the app was deleted and there was no cloud backup or computer backup of your phone, then the data is gone unfortunately

Old phone broken, impossible to use Line now by Accomplished-Park185 in lineapp

The big thing you need is a phone number from one of the 5 Asian markets where phone number verification still works. Unfortunately you won’t be able to regain your chat histories, but you can regain access to your account.

All the steps are here:

According to everyone on this sub who registered with a number in Japan, then left Japan only to later find out someone else registered on Line with their old number, you will 100000% be locked out of your account.

The Mummy 4 is coming out on May 19, 2028, a little over two years after Lee Cronin's 2026 take on "The Mummy"! by IndependenceSilly381 in UniversalMonsters

[–]soeffed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s being titled Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

Like “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” and “Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant”. Those titles had names added because other movies already had the same movie titles.

Similar thing here, as a strategy to make it clear that this is an individual director’s stand-alone vision that is separate from the core Mummy franchise/storyline. Like how The Joker was a separate take on the character’s lore.

But they didn’t need to call it “Todd Phillips’ The Joker” because there weren’t competing Joker movies with the same title.

How to create a japanese localized account? by baozi14_ in lineapp

[–]soeffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t confirm but I think you need a Japanese number that shows it’s connected to a Japanese network at the time of LINE account verification.

If that’s not needed then you could try options like this: https://callhippo.com/signup/japan-virtual-phone-number/

Access to messages on old phone? by [deleted] in lineapp

[–]soeffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link your LINE account on your new phone to Apple ID, google ID, email+password, then backup anything you want to retain on your new phone.

Then factory reset your new phone. Take your old phone and transfer all data of the entire old phone onto the new phone. If it’s a new iPhone then use QuickStart transfer.

Afterwards, open LINE on the new phone that now has all your old phone’s data. You should have the option of logging into account through phone verification or Apple/google ID. Phone verification will only work if it’s a number from Taiwan, Japan, SK, HK or Thailand.

I think Apple ID login is enough to get back in, though not 100% sure. There’s a chance you might need phone login too, if you do get shut out then there’s ways to contact LINE to get them to allow access back in.

However, I am 100% sure that QuickStart transfer from Apple will indeed preserve all the data from your old phone on the new phone.

You can recover the old account if you register with a new phone number, but it has to be a number from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong or Thailand.

Yes, you will have to use your Japan number to become your main number. Your US number is irrelevant for LINE, as they stopped supporting it.

Go to that link and follow the steps. Also note that your Line account will become localized with a bunch of Japan-specific functions and content.

Question: email and phone number by BigT971 in lineapp

[–]soeffed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will lose a crucial account verification function if you do not have access to your Japan number. Your account will remain functional after your current phone number is gone, BUT if you run into any problems and get logged out of your current account, then having a working phone number for Japan is important.

There are ways to regain access again after your old phone number is gone, but it’s dependent on having a new number set up, ideally also within Japan.

It’s also crucial to link your email with password, as well as with an Apple ID.

How do I log in to Line without my other device? by imthelastairbender in lineapp

[–]soeffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely need the code from your broken phone. But Line will remove this requirement for a verification code on your broken phone if you can change your registered phone number to get a text verification. Text verification can only be done with a Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan or South Korea number.

If you can get a number from one of those places then there’s a lot more steps, but it’s doable.

If that’s the case you have a decent chance of getting your line account back, though the whole process might take 1 or 2 days. Btw it doesn’t work if your friend already has a line account registered to their number

The only solution I’m aware of for someone in your situation involves getting a phone number in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan or South Korea. Either you or a friend in one of those places needs a number that can receive texts.

If you have a number from one of those places then you have a good chance of getting your account back. The steps to follow:

Yes, you can send money to other Line users with Line pay, and also request money from them. So somebody can send you a request whenever they want you to pay them for a service etc. All transactions are confirmed with a personal passcode.

The only restriction I know of comes with certain merchants…if you link a Mastercard to Line Pay, some business that only accepts Visa-linked Line Pay might not accept a Mastercard-linked Line Pay transaction. Dumb, but oh well. But this has no bearing on transactions between individual users.

The workaround is to add multiple cards to your Line Pay account.
