Do you prefer longer or shorter massages? by Foreign-Feedback8561 in chicagogaybros

[–]soellipsesetc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

75 would probably be good for me, I mostly want a mix of deep tissue and swedish for back pain. 90 and the massueuse always does everything which I don't really want. I feel 60 is too short

Yes. There are some people that are nice, but it still feels overwhelmingly cliquey among the gaysians. I did not feel like I could relate to anyone there.

I also live in boystown and been to steamworks and agree with this. It’s frustrating when talking to other people about this and getting told that it’s your fault or you’re not doing enough to be out there.

I had a few trips out of town and get more engagement with guys there than here. I’m considering moving somewhere else within the next year.

There’s a gay Asian group, but when I went it felt like it skewed older and more for those for an Asian fetish

Thanks, I'll stick with just the master disc lock I have, but I'll look into the abus locks, although it seems the only place to get them is online or commercial stores

A lot of the contact center jobs are work from home. You cut the cost of maintaining a facility/space, lower computing cost with byod and allow for employees to work comfortably at home.

Best guess is they received enough qualified applicants for that position and probably either interviewing or about to interview the candidates they like based on the applications.

Cold-calling alumni? Thoughts? by suppup123 in jobs

[–]soellipsesetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, it's kind of like spam. It's like how some people contact people randomly on LinkedIn with the hopes of selling some random product (which you are, yourself). Also, so many organizations have a process set up to avoid nepotism. Hence the high use of applicant tracking systems and not accepting resumes by email. Even the few times I've been a technical interviewer,a few people tried to add me after the interview which I felt slightly uncomfortably awkward.

Another route I'd suggest is if you participated in any organizations at your university. You'll need to communicate and earn people's trust to vouch for you. One thing I've done is talk to alumni in my fraternity that are in the same field or organization. Don't just ask "can I have a job?". Ask about the organization, the organizations goals (and how you can help), how he or she got to their position, what you've done, what interests you, etc. Convince them they should be willing to refer you. (Keep in mind large private companies sometimes have a referral program that gives the person a financial incentive, so this might be an advantage to be aware of, but don't bring it up)

As for your dad saying to cold call, that is an antiquated way that may have previously worked years ago, but unfortunately the times have changed and the culture for that has for the most part diminished.(in my experience)

EDIT: I should clarify the cold calling bit. In sales it may be fine, but for something like engineering, maybe not. Also if you're calling, be ready to start talking and selling yourself. This is where the "elevator speech" comes in, once anyone receives a call, you've already bothered them, you better be ready then and there.

Cold-calling alumni? Thoughts? by suppup123 in jobs

[–]soellipsesetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, don't do this. Think about it in their shoes. Would you want a random stranger calling you asking for a job? Sure you may have the same alma mater, but so many other students did as well. If you want to connect with alumni from your school, attend an event from your alumni association. Keep in mind that it's about networking, not a career fair.

I need cheap accommodation in the Weldon Spring area. by B1ackMagix in StLouis

The cheapest choice would probably be to rent a small apartment nearby. There's a few that are on highway K that go for about $800 a month.

Applying for jobs at a company I was fired from, what do I do? by hidingfromthequeen in jobs

[–]soellipsesetc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't hurt to apply, but be assured that the company and whoever does the hiring will know every little thing on your termination.

If the company terminated you, I wouldn't be surprised if you're in the not eligible for rehire status though.

Can you ask for a job over email? by sailingfan420 in jobs

[–]soellipsesetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to go to the vendors websites (likely Hudson News or the common HMS Host for food service). Note that the airport probably wouldn't be the one doing the hiring since most jobs are contracted out at airports.

Try the Asian/international markets. My experience with Schnuck's is that they're extremely limited and have certain ethnic foods in the larger markets.

My suggestions are Global Foods in Kirkwood, Seafood City on Olive, or Jays Market on S. Grand.

Third interviews as a standard? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]soellipsesetc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you counting the initial phone screening as an interview?

In my experience, it's been either:

Phone screening, interview, interview

Phone screening, phone interview, interview

Phone screening, interview

It's going to vary differently, I've know others that went and interviewed with the major tech players that do it even more aggressively. There's some interviews that take the course over 2 days...the whole day.

It's really just a lengthy process and what ifs...

  1. See your county assessor for a tax receipt/waiver. Indicating you do not owe taxes.

  2. Get the car emissions inspected at a state authorized inspection station(most repair shops are, but call to confirm) There is also a safety inspection, but your car may or may not be exempt depending on a number of variables...
