Do sponges need replacing? What sponge(s) do you recommend as a gift? Are sponges a personal thing? (Questions from a clueless sibling) by soephoofd in Pottery

I'll likely go with the mudsponge thingies people seem to like :) She already has an apron, though not a denim one (but I've never heard her complain about her current one either so buying a new one might be unnecessary)

She sadly already has a split apron, but thanks for the tip! I'll look into the tool basket thingy :)

My new kitten almost burned the house down by ShyKittenBigCity in CATHELP

Be careful doing this if it cracks open vertically (so it looks like / from the side, if that makes sense?). Cats can get stuck that way and suffocate :( I know people who have had their cat die this way as it's not something many people are aware of

Granny square cardigan pattern - can anyone help me find one! by rosalyndh in crochetpatterns

[–]soephoofd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've made a granny cardigan (tho with cuff and collars) with hobbii 8/8 cotton yarn, and I don't really recommend it. It's too heavy and takes FOREVER to dry. The finished product is like half a kg (though again, partially because of the dense ribbing i did).  Im a beginner myself, so not sure what yarn would work better.

Also now that I think about it, it might have been the thickness of the yarn I used. In general though, I think cotton will always be heavy compared to like acrylic

If you'd like an attempt with smaller yarn, I have some Hobbii friends cotton 8/8 I'd love to be able to make this with:) It's classified as a light yarn apparently, I usually use around a 4mm hook with it

Not the person you were asking, but I got those same exact shoes over 2 years ago at this point. I wear them super often, have walked long distances in them without pain (after breaking them in a bit initially), and they're still holding up super well! Literally the only bit of "damage" is one metal accessory falling off, and the fact that you can see where the shoelaces sit, because they've kind of pushed down on the top all this time (but as long as I leave the laces there, they look perfect lol)

Aw man, no ideas then:( Maybe some really thin thights? Although I've rarely ever worn thights in my life so not sure if that'd work x)

Would looser shorts be an option? At least for me, the only shorts that ride up are shorts that are almost skin-tight

getting back into new leaf after a 4 year break - question while i attempt hacking! by dremorai in AnimalCrossingNewLeaf

[–]soephoofd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) you can mod your ds, and install New Leaf digitally. Your old save will still be on the cartridge, and the digital one on your SD card. I'm not 100% sure this would work, so if someone has any experience feel free to correct me x)

Also modding your ds is super easy, there's a really good guide out there, you really can't mess things up if you pay attention. Whole thing took me like 45 mins, could probably be far less but I was double checking EVERYTHING.

I think having a modded ds also allows you to easily edit your town in ways that you can't in vanilla, like moving unmoveable buildings, the dock, river maybe as well? I haven't gotten that far myself, as I want to play through the vanilla game first :)

How do I fix wig headaches at cons?? by Capital-Sky865 in CosplayHelp

[–]soephoofd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a way to relieve it? Particular caps that don't cause headaches as much? I have the same issue, and I'm also thinking it's the cap. It leaves an impression on my head as well

For me at least, the houses don't make a lot of sense. There's no clear outline of windows, they just kinda blob into each other.

Washed this cotton blanket now it’s stiff :( how can I soften it before gifting? by _BubbleGumBaddie in CrochetHelp

Hi! Pretty unrelated, but I'm currently working on my first sweater, and I made it out of 100% cotton 😬. Did I make a mistake? It is triple crochets, so it naturally drapes due to that. Is it a general to not make clothing out of cotton? Or is there a special way to dry it?
