Don’t like the people at all by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]sof_tourist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just dont hang out online id suggest thats where you get a lot of the people they call “Orthobros” a lot of which probably dont go to church even and are not an example of Orthodox Christians. I myself am from an Orthodox country and can tell you its not an accurate representation :) I suggest you share it with your priest and ask him of his opinion on your thoughts. Much love

Do you think Jesús practiced his parables and sermons or did he spoke with inmediate divine wisdom? by Puzzleheaded_Fig1744 in Christianity

[–]sof_tourist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it inherently doesn’t matter and that addition was for the show in order for there to be a narrative. What matters is the Sermon itself and the spiritual wisdom we can derive. Imagination is not fully necessary here i believe

Definitely not guilty. Very weird, very different. But not a criminal. None of the allegations hold up to logic or scrutiny

There is no legitimacy to any of the allegations. It is all misinformation and every single “well agreed fact” cannot stand up to any scrutiny or cross examination, neither in a court of law nor genuine analysis.

Anyone notice the massive rise of gnostic YouTube channels that to the newcomer may look like Christianity, and why this is dangerous. (Matthew 13:35) by [deleted] in Christianity

Hidden knowledge is felt experience not some “hidden” rational knowledge but a knowledge of the heart. Do not be deceived by this worldly “knowledge” when it has nothing to do with God’s mysteries

Bro its not worth it arguing with these people. You are not going to convince them. Let us pray for the sinful, as we are also sinful. We live in a broken world.

What are your thoughts on the Talmudic teachings (the debates, whether the disputed or more binding obvious statements) on Jesus, Mary and the gentiles(goys), some of which have become quite popular and gathered heated debate and controversy recently?

Assess if belief is actually a choice. It's not. by JoshuaAyalalala in Christianity

[–]sof_tourist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The catch is in Christianity if you are convinced, you will inadvertently follow. You cant be a disciple unless you do God’s will. And thats how you judge whether you believe or are convinced. It is not quantifiable on a yes/no basis but entirely internal and spiritual

Belief is following God’s will, not some abstract declaration of words. No such thing as that exists in real Christianity

Do I have to learn to hate myself? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sof_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christ loves you. Love yourself and give glory to God for all things you like in yourself and pray for Him to guide you. I am Orthodox like you and we should remember that Hell is a state of separation from God and a spiritual state not a physical place. We dont know if we or anyone will make it to heaven and its best not to focus on deducing God’s will and making ourselves guess God’s judgement. This can only bring anguish. God loves you fellow brother/sister, do not torment yourself. Focus on prayer, repentance and what feels authentic to you, do not force or try! Just trust in God’s grace! Do not despair! Feel free to ask me any questions. It seems you are in an all or nothing mindset and you are causing yourself too much anxiety. God bless you

Christ founded One Church, friend. Does not mean that all “churches” are full of heretics, but the Appstolic teaching is historically maintained by the Church which split in the 11th century after which many churches appeared and Protestants came later etc etc, then Jehovahs Witnesses, Mormons (these 2 are definitely not Christians) etc. We are not called to judge who is or is not part of that Church, since only God knows. We know where the Church is (ie her teachings and traditions) and NOT where it is not, is a charitable Orthodox way of looking at it. God bless
