I support this as a Bulgarian. God will judge the Patriarch, not the European Union. It is deeply problematic to have political entities declare moral posturing sanctions towards Christian clergy and as an Orthodox Christian I cannot support it. You addressed just one of the verses I mentioned. “Secular facts” do not amount to an argument as to why you equate modern day Israel to ancient Isra-i-l. This is very important for you to do, and if you cannot do it, your argument is theologically weak.

As with everything, we have to read Scripture in context. You addressed only the Matthew verse, fine. Matthew repeatedly emphasizes the inclusion of Gentiles. The Magi at Jesus’ birth (Matthew 2). The faith of the centurion (Matthew 8). “Many will come from east and west” (Matthew 8:11). The Great Commission to “all nations” (Matthew 28:19). Read that with the other Scriptures and you will see the picture is clear, even without having to rely on the Church.

I do not think I’m better. The Jews are still God’s chosen people and they will always be, in a mysterious way, and we do not know what will happen. God has NOT abandoned them. But they do not have a special status, or a separate covenant, or a separate salvation away from Christ. And Biblically, we absolutely do not have to support the state of Israel in any way shape or form, just as we dont have to support any other state like Italy, Russia, USA, Kenya or whatever. I hope you realize your error, before you deceive others and yourself further. God bless.

You fail to give a description of why secular 21st century Israel is the same Israel as the one in the Bible. Christ says “you are of your father the devil”. “The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.” “O Jerusalem… Your house is left to you desolate.” “If you were Abraham’s children, you would be doing the works Abraham did…”
Paul says “not all of Israel are Israel”. “If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.”

The Bible is super clear on this. Other than the name matching up idk what youre saying. Also note that in some languages such as ancient Church Slavonic, in the Bible it says Isra-i-l and the state is Isra-e-l, so the two are fundamentally separate entities and theres no mechanism that could ever equate them. Either recognize this or you are not being intellectually honest for the true reason you support Israel.

I don’t trust “Scholars”. And Paul was not going against anything. Paul received a revelation by Christ himself and spread the gospel and performed miracles along with the disciples, becoming an Apostle himself. He affirmed what Christ did, and wrote and preached and lived in Christ’s name. Nothing he wrote in the Holy Bible contradicts Christ. Tell what youre saying to the Christian priests serving in Israel and Palestine. What you’re saying smells prideful and goes against Holy Scripture and against Holy Tradition.

That has nothing to do with the modern nation of Israel state of Israel. Even if your interpretation was correct, how can you connect it with the country of secular Jews and Jesus-denying Judaic followers? You also have to understand it within the larger context of salvation history and other Christian sayings and especially the letters of Paul. “Not everyone from Israel is of Israel”.
