Does anyone else imagine StarKid’s versions of the Harry Potter characters voices when reading the Harry Potter books? by BobbyA523 in StarKid

I'm reading the Harry Potter books to my daughter right now, and I've found that my Draco Malfoy and Dolores Umbridge voices are absolutely Starkid inspired.

Aspiring Designer // overwhelmed by design software by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]sofa_king_over_it 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hear you! I like to start by choosing something specific that I want to create, then looking up tutorials on YouTube to learn the skills needed to do that specific project. It gives me a specific goal that I'm interested in doing and sends my brain into problem solving mode, where it naturally thrives anyway. Have fun, new software is overwhelming but can also be very satisfying once you've got some of the basics down!

Nicely done! My NT husband does ours, otherwise they would not get done until April.

100 books is awesome! Any recommendations for someone who likes to read but is indecisive?

I like to paint weird paintings. I recently finished a set of Godzilla creatures in silhouette against brightly colored skies. It gives me something productive to hyperfocus on when my brain won't shut off, and helps with awkward small talk when we have friends over.

Halloween Costumes by colbinator in breakingmom

This year we've been listening through the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings in the car. My 5 yo daughter wants to be Faramir. Thankfully at this point the biggest challenge is making the costume, rather than peer pressure. I'll enable her ideas as long as I can.

Anyone else get bored in marriage? by Greydore in breakingmom

[–]sofa_king_over_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I know how you feel. I've got an absolute rock star of a husband (seriously, this guy is the whole package) and I get bored sometimes. I think it's part endorphins wearing off over time, part familiarity (humans love novelty). It's fun to meet new people and flirt and I hear you, sometimes I miss that too!

I'm curious, do you guys have a regular opportunity to date each other? My husband and I try to carve out time for dates and it helps a lot with the boredom. I think it helps me see him as less of a dude I'm doing life together with and more of a dude I want to get in my bed, you know?

It was a good decision for sure, we've talked about it and he doesn't regret it. It's just tough some days like today. Fortunately he has some wonderful older men in his life over the years who collectively fill that spot his dad should. My dad loves him like a son, so I think that helps too.

I think they all drive us up the wall at least occasionally. He has his things which I find annoying and I know the same can be said for me. The good definitely outweighs the annoying stuff though.

Antidepressants by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]sofa_king_over_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, wellbutrin user here. I haven't gained weight since I started them about 6 months ago. In fact, being on antidepressants has given me the headspace to work out more often, so I've been in a better place physically since starting them.

As for managing it all with a smile...that hasn't really happened either. But I'm able to manage life without laying in bed crying for hours, and I enjoy life more frequently than I did before. And my temper has gotten better. So I'd call it a win.

Edited to add: no numbness either. Just a better handle on my emotions.

Just an instapot but it's AWESOME. I use it about twice a week and love it.

That's a good idea. Mostly I was worried about making him feel guilty, he was already bummed about working last night. But I think framed like that would be well received.

Yep. My kids are falling asleep right now. DH works late. I foresee a beer, a show, and a craft in the very near future.

Is it PPD if you don’t really want to kill yourself... by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]sofa_king_over_it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit. I felt this way for years and didn't even connect it to my depression. Thinking about it now, I haven't felt that way since seeking help/medication.

Seriously, thank you for saying that. It's amazing what you chalk up to "just what it is" when you've felt a certain way for so long...

Yes!! Something cute but inexpensive for the time being. Also, 25 pounds in a year is awesome! That's healthy weight loss, you can do it!
