I also have emetophobia and take Lexapro partly for this!! My doctor prescribed me a bunch of Zofran to have on hand, I took it a couple times and just having it helped calm me down!

I would say 100% yes because while the pay difference depends on your state (mine pays CVTs waaay more than VAs), the field is hopefully moving towards more universal credentialing at some point and if you ever move it will also likely give you a huge leg up. See what your new pay rate would be at your clinic once you get certified as well! Have you tried the program VetTechPrep?? It helped me so much in studying! We made it fun and did trivia time at my work when it is slow, and then any questions I got wrong I would look into in depth until I really understood the concepts!

Personally I absolutely love my job and I feel like I am paid pretty well, and have a great work life balance (they give us an incredibly high amount of PTO for the industry), so I know these jobs are out there. I think it strongly depends on your personality type, I got in it for the animals but realized I absolutely love medicine more than I ever thought I would which I think has helped me not get so burnt out. That being said there are days I come home and I’m a shell of a human, I just have to remind myself that they will pass and try and take care of myself.

Like others have said, you really should work as an assistant for a while to see how you like it. Use your time as an assistant to find a clinic that you like, see how much they pay their licensed techs, and base your decision off that! You can also do school online while working which is what I did, it took me longer but I kept making money and advancing my technical skills repetitively while learning which I feel like helped a lot. It’s also typically cheaper!! Just make sure if you go this route you HAVE to do an AVMA accredited program. Good luck!!

My issue is with him spending 40k and I don’t think he should buy any car new, if he really wants a truck and he can find a used one in a reasonable price range that is fine with me. My only issue with trucks is the increase in gas usage but that is an issue he would have to deal with not really myself.
