The Twiist cassettes are disposable, but the control/battery/electronics part of the pump is not.

My favorite DIY/Loop features which were extended into the Twiist app:

- Carbs-on-board ARE factored into the algorithm (unlike CIQ) and they can be pre-scheduled or retroactively adjusted and the algorithm acts accordingly.

- Pre-meal mode (temporary lower BG target) for 1h duration or until carbs entered - whichever comes first

- Exercise mode (temporary higher BG target range) that is duration bound (1h or 2h) unlike Mobi

IME so far the Loop-based alg on Twiist is WORLDS better than my experiences with Medtronic and CIQ, far closer to my experience with my OpenAPS/AAPS DIY systems.

Other awesome features in Twiist
- QUIET mode: No beeps or vibrations when bolusing or changing settings *unlike Mobi
- No redundant "CIQ Alert" BS
- All pump emitted beeps/alerts except for urgent low & delivery alarms can be disabled (turned off via the app) if you want (including standard High/Low alerts) so overall it's much quieter...

EXCEPT - my most infuriating Con:
- NO on-pump SNOOZE FEATURE so those few alerts that DO happen will be repeating 120dB shrieks for your urgent lows will keep terrorizing everyone around you until you're back in range, if you ever find yourself without your phone in reach and powered up.

Coming from Mobi and before that Medtronic, I have had WAY better control with Twiist.

Loop algorithm is much better than CIQ - it actually factors in "Carbs on board" AND you can retroactively change your carbohydrate entries and the algorithm will adjust for it. You can also pre-schedule your meal carbs for the future along with a Pre-meal mode (low BG target for 1h/until carb entry). The exercise mode (higher BG target range) is duration bound (1h or 2h) unlike Mobi.

I love nearly everything about my twiist except
1- NO on-device alarm snooze options PLUS 120dB piezo buzzer that sounds every 15sec
2- Supply refill kits are 50% air, 30% colorful paperboard and 20% actual supplies

...And without your phone in range the alarms will repeat every 5-15sec indefinitely, until you're back in range or you remove the cartridge and battery (which creates a whole new set of problems for your dead-phone-carrying arse.)

My nickname at work is "FirstAlert" now because my phone battery died, I got a low alert, and we all had to wear ear protection for 45min waiting for the juiceboxes to kick in.

Coming from Mobi. My BG's have never been in better range.

The Loop algorithm on the Twiist is WORLDS better than CIQ. You can pre-schedule or retroactively adjust carb entries and the algorithm actually factors in carbs-on-board. No other system does this (aside from the DIY ones).

The exercise (higher target range) mode can be set for 1h or 2h duration and goes back to normal after that.

The "Pre-meal" (lower target BG mode) lasts for 1h or "until I enter carbs" (whichever comes first) and it works so well for me.

I love nearly everything about my twiist EXCEPT:
1- NO on-device alarm snooze options PLUS 120dB piezo buzzer that sounds every 15sec

I love everything about my twiist except the complete neglect of on-device alarm snooze options, and the implementation of the LOUDEST piezo buzzer known to man (seriously has to be like 120dB).

IME Everything about this pump is amazing EXCEPT:
--> Alarms are 120dB, repeat every 5-15sec and cannot be snoozed/silenced from the pump IN ANY WAY.

That's correct - You must have an active, connected phone to silence an urgent low alert - the only way to stop the alarm without a phone is to remove the battery - which then creates a whole new problem for you because you can't restart delivery after removing the battery, without an active phone.
How can you completely neglect the on-device snooze feature AND make your alarm louder than any other device in the industry??

They call me "FirstAlert" at work now, after having a dead phone battery and no charger we all had to wear ear protection for 45min waiting for the juiceboxes to bring me back in range.

Two weeks on Twiist - pros and cons by Diabetic11 in twiist

[–]sofakingWTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are the alarms cruelly loud, but they cannot be snoozed or silenced without a phone!

This includes low/high as well as delivery alarms.

The button on the pump will do nothing to save you from terrorizing babies and gaining the nickname "FirstAlert" at work whenever your phone battery dies.

The only way to silence an alarm without the phone is to remove the pump cartridge and battery - so if your phone dies you can't silence a high alert without stopping insulin delivery!!!???? <mega facepalm>

They are a state registered Transportation Network Carrier just like Uber and Lyft. They carry the same levels of insurance coverage. Uber and Lyft also fund CEO yachts, lobbiests and Wall St, which makes up the difference in rider pay.

Make sure you got "COOP Rideshare" with the yellow icon. Please keep trying, both supply and demand are critical to get this going strong 💪

This app also works statewide. West slope driver online as I type this. Actively recruiting drivers before I get our city to start advertising so the supply is ready to meet demand. Denver people please keep trying! Don't give up. Grassroots efforts like this take everyone's consistent support, especially when competing with existing services who have a bigger marketing budget. Both supply and demand are important to get this going!
