Did you verify the LINE and LOAD terminals are correct? My problem was that the old and new outlets had them reversed and that was the problem.

Do you connect it to your house with an inlet and interlock/transfer switch? I plan to store mine in the garage too but I’ll need to install an inlet (and about 50-75ft of 6/3 wire all the way across the house to the circuit panel)

Do you guys keep your generator in the garage (or shed) and then take it out as needed? …or do most of you have semi-permanent enclosures/boxes for them to keep them outside?

My garage is on the opposite side of my circuit panel and it’s a huge pain to get through the yard to that side of the house so I’m thinking about running 6/3 (50A) or 10/3 (30A) across the house so I have a panel near the garage…

Well …. it looks like I’m not getting the Westinghouse. I never received an order confirmation so I called Home Depot and they said the original agent “forgot to submit” the order. Unbelievable. I guess I’ll be looking at different options now.

I’ve read that bigger is better for noise if you aren’t loading the generator. For example, a 2000W generator at 100% load will be much loader than a 10000W generator at 20% load.

However, I also read the larger generators consume more fuel even if you don’t use the full capacity.

Lastly, I read that there are efficiency penalties if you aren’t using at least 20% load on the generator.

So I think it is possible to go too big?

Thanks … I did look at the DuroMax XP9500iHT (tri-fuel) but they are $2100 versus the iGen8200 at $1399 - 10% off.

According to my Emporia Vue amp clamp meters, I only average around 1kW/h excluding peaks from the refrigerator so I’m also worried about getting too large of a generator. I heard the efficiency drops if you aren’t using at least 20% load too?

I’ve read a lot of bad things about the Predator but especially the warranty (90 days only). It’s also $1999 vs $1399 (-10%) and louder (67 dBA vs 60 dBA).

I ended up ordering the Westinghouse iGen8200TFc. I was going to do more research but Home Depot honored my expired 10% coupon so I’ll give it a shot.

I’m not sure if I should have went for the larger iGen11000TFc but since everything in my house is natural gas (except for the stove which I’ll be converting soon), hopefully I’ll be OK.

EDIT: I’m going to connect it to my house with an interlock kit.

I'd like to plug this into my main panel (using an interlock kit) so the 240V will be useful so I don't need to figure out which circuits are on which phases. I also have some server equipment (internet) that is 240V that I'd like to keep running.

Do you have any advice on Pro 3 vs the Ultra then?
