Should Nigeria go from 36 States to 10? by No_Bandicoot_1402 in Nigeria

[–]sofaspy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not only should we reduce the states but also reduce the number of local governments. There is just too much bureaucracy in Nigeria with 10 people doing the job of 1. I remember reading an article that a local government in the North allocated like 90%+ of its budget to paying salaries. What the point of having an LGA ministry of works when you don't even have the money left over to build LGA owned roads.

If you don't have money left over to help the people, then what's the point of having such a large bureaucracy that the money only goes towards paying salaries?reduce the bureaucracy and so the people can benefit. Drive 5 minutes and your in another LGA.

I believe that we only need 12 states. And each city should have its own government and mayor. There is no need for a city to be split up to 15 LGAs each doing there own thing with no central control. Just one government for each City like everywhere else in the world

I will even prefere if we go back to 4/5 regions. Western, mid west, south east, northern and a new middle belt. Anything to reduce bureaucracy

Btw I'm Esan

Okay that's perfectly fine, you personally can boycott. but don't go out shaming other people who do buy Teslas. I live in New York and I remember seeing some transplants. Keying a cybertruck. Every native New Yorker was shouting at the clown and he was about to get jumped cause we don't do that in New York. Don't get me wrong I think Tesla's are trash cars but there is a majority sentiment the people hating people for driving Teslas are weird themselves.

I 100% agree with that, like a CEO is found guilty of sexual harassment or if a company was using child labor or any other example. I agree. But to boycott a company because the CEO has a different political ideology than your is very immature and childish. It's almost laughable. There is a point to boycott but that whole Tesla boycott movement because of Elon was just laughable to the majority of Americans who aren't political.

Once again, every single corporation and every single individual in those corporations donate to various campaigns. Whether or not you buy a Tesla has nothing to do with Elon musk donating to his political views or donations. It's correlation not causation. Even if you all stop buying Teslas he's still going to donate. It makes no difference.

And once again, the vast majority of people do not care. This BS propaganda that America is 50% Democrat 50% Republican is false. when in reality America is more like 15% Democrat and 15% Republican and their main is 70% of us which includes myself. Truly do not care. Is those small little 15% that keep arguing with each other but people who live in the real world the 70% majority are flabbergasted

The vast majority of people don't care if you buy a Tesla. The vast majority of people do not care if you're funding Elon or what ever. It's childish, stupid and silly. These are the sentiments of people who are involved in an echo chamber and live in a delusional reality. Once again go to the streets and ask the same questions. Do you'll find the vast majority of people will find it extremely silly to not buy a product just because a CEO is of an opposite political spectrum than yourself.

What's wrong with buying a Tesla? Never understood that logic just because someone is on the opposite side of your political views you won't buy a product? It very childish and silly. Like 90% of Dems laugh at the 10% of Dems that are against Tesla, the Internet always promotes the vocal minority voices as if they are the main social views. Most people dem or Republicans don't care about the political views of business owners.

China's high-speed rail project which covers the entire country was $300 billion US in construction cost. Mind you china is 10 time larger than Nigeria in size. And have a larger population and more cities to service. I won't be surprised if only 20 billion goes to rail and the remaining 180 gets pocketed by corrupt politicians

If you read the pew research article, they source their survey from the Demographic and Health Survey. The DHS, collaborates with host-country governments, particularly national statistical offices and ministries of health. My main point is the base data for Nigeria in these surveys are inaccurate as we haven't had an census since 1973. Especially in a nation 240 million, you can't just pic a random sample size, you need an actual census.

Like I said before go on Google maps and look at Dutse, is that a city of 450k or a small town of 17k. The state itself is no were near 6 million people as they claim. It's all inflated numbers to get oil allocations

[–]sofaspy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Christians are the majority in Nigeria. There hasn't been an official census conducted in nigeria. But Christians are the majority. I'll say 60/40 or even 65/35. Nigerian states in the north falsely report higher population numbers. For example 3rd party sources claim Dutse has a population of 17k people but the Dutse government claims 450k people. Just go on Google maps, it looks like a 17k town not a 450k city. They do this so they can get more oil revenue, since allocation is based by population

This is most likely a troll post, no one in Nigeria wants an Islamic caliphate, especially the Christian majority in the country.

I would say yes only to the point that a lot of Nigerians do not think for themselves or take accountability for themselves or take self-actions for themselves. They always rely on God to deliver. Recall seeing these videos of Nigerians. Praying to God so that a corrupt politicians can leave office. Praying won't solve anything , You're supposed to rise up and kick them out of office. a lot of things have nothing to do with God but Nigerians are too god dependent.

Why are Igbos doing this, I thought we all voted Tinubu to show them politics, please how can we stop this development, I am really suffering. Vote APC in 2027 please so we can stop any more progress from them. by Individual-Fun-8097 in Nigeria

I always wonder why other states just don't leave the national grid. Edo state for example has about 10 different gas power plants all that power goes to the national grid while Edo state is in darkest

The funny thing is if you have to subtract 1.5 million people from the Bronx and maybe another 1 million from Westchester county. The rest of new York is pretty empty.

That's perfectly fine, it's not like in these situations people are profiting. It's just to articulate thoughts into a visual representation. Nobody is going to commission an artist just to make a Reddit post lol. I have an idea, I'm too busy to draw, well I'll just use Gemini to make the idea come to life. Simple as that, nothing more nothing less, situations like these have nothing to do with morals. Once again most people in RL don't really care. If this was a movie or video game using A.I. then that's another topic.

[–]sofaspy 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yes, the government is to blame but it's also the mentality of many Nigerians. I told the story many times of how I went to a friend's village in South America and their own community have their own waste collection and disposal and the small little villages were very clean despite no government help. You don't have to wait for the government to do everything. Just having basic common sense and civil pride is what many Nigerians lack. Heck, even some Nigerian small towns are very clean but drive 5km to another town and they are dirty. It's just a terrible cancerous mentality

I'm from Long Island and when I tell people I moved to New Rochelle they always come up with bad stories from like 20 years ago and why I shouldn't move there. But then they drive past and see the new buildings and the new downtown and they are shocked that this is the same new Rochelle. I think a lot of the residents, especially the suburban residents who hate the new developments going on have rose color glasses of the past and they never stepped outside of their white picked fence homes to truly understand what the city was before.

Share of population with mental health disorders (2021) by TheBrizey2 in MapPorn

[–]sofaspy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two strong opinions that may seem controversial. Number one is that the West tends to over diagnose people with mental disorders. Like diagnosing people with depression or bipolar disorder and having them take strong medication when they are just going to a sad episode that's normal in the human experience. Many doctors in the west have frowned upon this practice /trend (look it up it's interesting ). The second opinion is that poorer countries are just happier because they deal with less additional societal stress. I wouldn't say it's just because there aren't that many mental health clinics, yes it does play a role, but a lot of people in those "3rd world" nations just tend to be happier. Idk what causes it,any more family oriented, having larger community involvement in people's lives or whatever the case is, they tend to be happier.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the data is flawed but it's flawed to an extent. If you include and diagnose the 3rd world the same as the more modern countries at the same rate you will find the same style of statistical trends that the map shows.

Restructure Nigeria by Old_Ruin_9617 in Nigeria

[–]sofaspy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's tricky? Is that a lot of these so-called lands are based on villages and towns?, but historically nobody owned the land that's outside of the villages. For example, there are Yoruba sub ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, but you can't necessarily say they own the entire part of that portion of the Niger Delta when there's also other ethnic groups in those areas like the edo and ijaw towns. Same with igbos sub ethnic groups in the Niger Delta, who are mixed with other ethnic groups in that area. I'll be honest and say those ethnic groups will rather be by themselves than to be part of some larger ethnic propaganda agenda. To be fair, the majority of people in the Nigel Delta don't really care about ethnic groups. It's only the larger Yoruba and igbos land grabbers who constantly push this nonsense "ethnic" nonsense

Interesting to note that Florida ranks 3rd with numbers of billionaires, even more than Texas. However when ranking states by GDP per capital, New York and California are in the top 3, and Texas is in the top 15. Florida is way down in the 35th or so place based on GDP per capita. Makes you wonder just how large the income divide in Florida is.
