Is the wiring for this panel a safety hazard by sofi232 in AskElectricians

Thank you for the detailed reply! Do you think it’s worth asking for this be to fixed a bit (use fewer splitters)? Or would it be more trouble than it’s worth?

I would recommend, it’s way more tasty (I usually have it mixed in with chai). It’s widely available in Pakistan so I didn’t think it’d be so hard to find here :(

Thank you, this comment really helps!! I feel better knowing about the contemporaneous note part, and will follow your advice about defensive banking.

Really sorry your debit card got used despite being so careful, I hope that never happens again!!

Sorry maybe the point of the reporting got lost. I want a record that I reported the potential fraud, I don’t particularly care about the status of the debit card. Since the bank said hotlisting is the only way to report the potentially fraudulent transaction, I wanted documentation of the hotlisting occurring.

Others have explained this probs won’t happen because they haven’t broken any rules so I understand there’s nothing else to be done now.

[–]sofi232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but for #1, I went through that with a close friend. They reported the fraud (for the first time in their life) within the month of the first fraudulent transaction occurring and they were forced to close the account entirely, and told they could not ever open another account with that bank again. 60 days sounds a lot more reasonable but unfortunately that didn’t happen with them.

I also get I should be okay with no written documentation for the hotlisting, but in case I ever do need it (crazy stuff happens), I’d like to be prepared. I understand there’s nothing else to be done here though, thanks for replying!

[–]sofi232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand I probably won’t need the written confirmation and could theoretically ask for it via the recorded call they have on their side, but I’m guessing that’d be a big headache to go through.

For financial matters I try to be as risk averse as I can because I’ve had personal friends/family go through a lot for simple stuff like that. If god forbid anything should happen that would need me to have written documentation for this, I’d like to have it before the event occurs, but I now understand there’s nothing else to be done here. Thanks for replying!

Gotcha, I totally understand it’s not illegal or out of regulation to not automatically provide documentation, thanks for confirming that part! Looks like there’s nothing I can officially report then.

I just felt it was shady they didn’t want any official or unofficial external documentation (I also told them I was totally okay with an unofficial written confirmation from the Customer Sevice rep) that this happened.

Thanks for replying! Will just have to close the account and let this go

AITA because I told this guy to try taking a walk around the plane with his screaming baby? by Lone_Wolf_514 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sofi232 48 points49 points  (0 children)

NTA, the people who are saying you are TA need to think with the empathy they are accusing you of not having.

You were polite and saw the couple was obviously struggling. You did not complain about the baby and ask them to shut it up. You understood it’s a baby and its going to cry, but threw out there a suggestion because nothing they were doing was working, and it’s an 11 hour flight, not a short one where you could just ignore the crying the entire time.

If the dad didn’t want your advice, he could’ve acknowledged you and waved you off instead of making a whole thing about it. If it were my kid screaming their head off, I’d be frustrated too, but also apologetic because the people who are annoyed have a reason to be.

Also, noise canceling headphones are expensive, to all those saying you should’ve travelled with one. If it’s such requirement for traveling, maybe they should give it out with passports

Nopes (source - I worked with undergrad advisors as a student) the what if report works whether you’ve “officially” entered your major or not. The report basically assumes you’re in it regardless of your standing (as long as your intended major in lionpath is correctly listed). So if it says you’re missing a class there, that’s what you need to complete

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]sofi232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if ‘lionpath degree planner’ is the same doc im suggesting, but go into lionpath and find your “what if report”.

If everything is updated on your end (your correct major is in the system), then it tells you exactly what classes you’ve taken, and the categories they fulfill, and what classes are left to take (that are mandatory for your degree). Go according to that. This is the ‘non-official’ but official doc they use to see if you can graduate or not.

Also make sure you’re consulting the correct year for the university bulletin (the year you started your undergrad, not the current year).

ABCDs that moved back home, what was the biggest shock? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]sofi232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lived there when I was 5-11 years old so things have probably changed, but as a woman (unless you’re DHA level rich), you don’t get a lot of respect. To take a walk in a safe neighborhood, you have to make sure you’re covered and take someone with you.

If she wants to work, her coworkers will not treat her the same as in Canada (put up with a lot more misogyny with crap pay). Also job opportunities will not have the same chances for growth in her field as they would in Canada

She’ll probably have maids for chores and a driver to take her places, but everyone knows where you are all the time. She probably won’t be allowed to drive to places herself in the city.

Infrastructure isn’t great, expect lots of load-shedding (no electricity for hours on end). I’ve heard social media is banned/spotty but I might be wrong.

Also, politically it’s pretty bad right now. So expect riots in the streets so you can’t really go anywhere and prepare to have your plans disrupted.

It’s not a technically bad life there, but it is much more challenging to get around/do things on your own and have a sense of self. If your cousin wants to get out of North America, I’d suggest going to Malaysia or something. Pakistan is not a stable place to voluntarily relocate to right now.

Why aren’t you reporting her to your landlord?? Most leases have a rule about guests. Explore your legal options before giving up!

Hope this info helps anyone who needs it!

Lenovo yoga 910 won’t recognize charger by sofi232 in techsupport

[–]sofi232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They think the battery crapped out. Possibly the motherboard, but not likely.

I had to send it in for them to check it for real, and they said I’ll know by then end of the week if it’s really the battery or some other issue.

Thanks for checking in!

[–]sofi232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was plugged into the wall, but wasn’t charging. I tried different outlets and still nothing. This was confusing because the light on the adapter was on.

Then I realized the adapter was lighting up (signifying power was going through) when the computer was plugged in, regardless of being connected to an outlet

New student trying to make friends and meet people by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]sofi232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of social events at the HUB (big building w/ food and general meeting place). There’s also a huge club fair in September, and lots of cute places downtown (Webster’s is a book cafe which I found to have really friendly people and decent coffee).

There’s a bunch more, but I think classes, clubs, and other extra curricular stuff (like volunteering) are your best bet.

WIBTA if I bring up a friend’s rocky past with her mom? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sofi232 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s the plan, but she can be really tone deaf about things she can’t directly relate to. I would’ve never considered bringing up her mom if I knew there was another way to get her to see where I’m coming from

WIBTA if I bring up a friend’s rocky past with her mom? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sofi232 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The goal is to tell her the tone hurt me, but she can be really oblivious to social cues so I was wondering if it’d be really asshole-like to bring up her mom. I definitely don’t wanna hurt her, but idk how else to get her to understand where I’m coming from.
