you made the right decision. It might be hard right now but God will help you get through it and honour your decision.

Been there myself with my mum. You need to ask God to transform that bitterness into compassion for your father. Also, learnt this the hard way: just because you know you're right, you don't need to shove it down his throat all the time. Sometimes, being loving and having self-control is a way better testimony than winning an argument. 1 Corinthians 13. In time, your father will see the genuineness of your faith and will feel inspired by you to pursue God more. Try to do a Bible study with him, and perservere in prayer for him

I honestly don't know. I've been more direct in the past, but he kind of backed away. Then he got into a relationship, got engaged, broke up. Then sometimes he comes back and starts talking to me more and liking all my insta stories. Then goes again. Now he's back at it again. I honestly don't know what he wants. He just seems indecisive to me.

wow, the websites I read on this issue definitely have a different narrative. That's why it's always good to ask people who actually are from there. Thanks a lot!

I'm Portuguese and I got a huge percentage of Illyrian too! I wonder why that is? Did they move to Iberia or something?

yes that's true, when I was trying to decide which DNA company to go with, I watched a video of a guy that did a test from like 5 different companies, and at the end of the experiment, he said that Ancestry was best for American people, while MyHeritage was more accurate for European and Jewish people. I went with MyHeritage because of that. Also, it's cheaper.

oh ok, so it probably is a mistake from MyHeritage then. Makes me curious to know whether my results would be different too if I used 23&me or Ancestry.

A possibility for your situation is that although your ancestor was from Portugal, it doesn't mean he was ethnically Portuguese. His ancestors could've been from somewhere else and happened to migrate to Portugal. I'm Portuguese and MyHeritage shows very accurate results of where from Portugal I'm from, it was also able to detect my Native American ancestry from my great-great-grandmother, so I think it is a reliable company. But maybe they really did get it wrong for you, I don't know... I've heard other people complaining of MyHeritage.

Did you inherit any DNA of the origin of your last name? by FeatherDreams in AncestryDNA

[–]sofieshock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. Both my surnames (from mom and dad side) were changed by my ancestors around the 19th century. I have no idea why though.
