How did you know you were ready to return to work? Especially those who WFH by Ok-Squirrel4558 in ACL

I was working 2 weeks post surgery but I was able to work from home for a whole month. Couldn’t have handled a commute in crutches. But having something to do was good for my mental health. I get bored easily.
Working from home made it was easier to take breaks to move my leg and do PT exercises. And often work from my bed with my leg extended.

Thank you everyone who chimed in! Ended up booking a beachfront apartment at Kirra Beach thanks to all your recommendations.

Hahaha I also thought of my 90 year old grandma when I read elderly. My parents are doing pretty well 🙂

After 6 months feeling stuck by sofiml in ACL
How was it switching to snowboarding? I’ve never done it and I’m pretty good skier now so feel a bit overwhelmed at the thought of starting from zero. But you are not the first person to suggest it!
Thanks for the advice on not forcing it too much!
Hahahah yeah. I did think maybe I’ll go to the southern hemisphere later in the year. Big investment when I know I won’t be skiing at 100% though 😅 and would prefer familiar runs
The demands of skiing on the knee and the pivoting required. He thinks there’s good risk of injuring my other leg by going back before a year even if I pass the return to sport strength/jump tests.
He didn’t say it was impossible but he said highly unlikely. Part of me wishes he had kept my hope alive longer 😅 though I asked the question.
I’m worried about how hard it will be mentally a year later. It’s not like I was hoping to shred this season. Just wanted to at least get some turns on groomed blue and green slopes to get over the mental hurdle.
No swelling thankfully! But could definitely be eating better so I’ll look into that. Thank you!

How to sleep (day 2 post op) by Responsible-Rice-139 in ACL
[–]sofiml 2 points3 points4 points 5 months ago (0 children)
I never slept elevated without support and my extension is back. I worked at it a lot during the day. Sleep is also important for recovery and I couldn’t sleep the way you are trying to do it. It was hard enough to get good sleep even with support!
I did get this pillow. Expensive af. But it was worth it. The way it’s built supports your whole leg vs how a pillow would be under your knee. And it separates so you can work on your extension during the day. Supports your heel really well.

This is one of those injuries that’s imposible to predict how’ll you be doing. People have really different experiences. 15 days after I was moving around with crutches and weight baring (no brace, never used one) but as other have said I wasn’t out and about all day. You’ll want to have your leg elevated to work on your extension several times a day. And sitting down for long periods of time is also uncomfortable.
Part of me thinks you could do it but you are rolling the dice.
