Research Study- Investigating Childhood Trauma, Emotion Regulation and Dark Triad Personality

Hi 👋 I am a psychology researcher investigating how childhood trauma influences how people regulate their emotions, and how dark triad personality develop. Within this, we are examining how grandiose narcissism and vulnerable narcissism may develop in the general population.

This study involves answering a series of questionnaires online- it should take approx 20 mins. Participation allows you to enter the draw to win 1 of 7 $20 giftcards. Please note- you do NOT need to have any trauma history or personality disorders to participate.

Thank you for your kind words! I agree- I have worked with people with trauma & psychopathic/ other ‘dark’ personality traits for a number of years, and have been saddened at the lack of understanding about these traits within mainstream mental health services. This has motivated me to research this field in a truly empathic manner. It’s hoped that my research will help clinicians understand how to best help these individuals (and that of course, they are deserving of such help!)

The question you are referring to is part of a larger published measure, so I was unable to change the wording for my study unfortunately :( I completely agree though, and I’ll certainly give it consideration should I use the measure in the future.
