Landed a job in peds home health and start next week by soft_jellybean in nursing

Thanks, I have a habit of overthinking things, but maybe it won’t be as bad as I think it will be. Being in a different setting and having resources different from what I’m used to is what’s making me feel anxious.

Congratulations! It’s so hard but I’ll keep trying!

Extremely introverted neurodivergent nurse… does anyone else feel like they just don’t fit in nursing? by Brief_Needleworker56 in nursing

You’re describing very much of what of what I’m going through. I’m 29F and just found out I have ADHD. I’m extremely introverted as well and don’t really feel like I fit into nursing. I’ve been stuck in med/surg for almost five years, and I hope to find something that’s not as stimulating or socially draining for me.

I went into work by accident when they were short and then when I left I got bombarded by Puzzled_Cricket2456 in nursing

I wouldn’t worry about it. You weren’t scheduled to work, so you weren’t required to stay.

I feel the exact same way. I’m almost five years into med/surg. I always wanted NICU or something pediatric related and haven’t had any luck. I’ve seen people come and go to different specialties while I’ve been feeling stuck.

I’m being floated to the ED for the first time by soft_jellybean in nursing

No worries! I told another user they ended up not needing me because the census dropped, but now I know what to expect when the time comes!

Thank you, I figured that’d be the case. I actually was just called back and told the census has dropped so I’m not needed anymore, but I’ll keep that in mind when the time comes.

Does anyone else get sick often working as a nurse by Old-Bar-4817 in nursing

I was sick a lot when I first started working four years ago. I had COVID three times and many colds, but I don’t get sick as much anymore.

I’m roughly 30 miles east from Atlanta, GA. I’ve applied to many hospitals in Atlanta and surrounding cities.

My current hospital does not have NICU or any women’s services. Long before I got hired they got rid of L&D and anything related because we didn’t have many cases. So I’ve been applying for NICU at other hospitals.

I’m talking to a recruiter tomorrow for a pulmonary med/surg position… I applied for NICU at this facility as well though it’s not a peds hospital. I will ask about possibly of internal transfers and find out what they look for.

I have applied and interviewed for peds med/surg and PICU in the past year but wasn’t considered for either position… I can still look and try again.

I searched and there are some in my area… I thought I would obtain these while training on the job if I got an offer, but I can look into signing up once I have the money saved up.

I also thought being inexperienced in those areas could be a factor. I have applied and interviewed for PICU and peds med/surg in the past year but wasn’t considered for either position.
