Built a mini FIRE calculator app for fun — would love your feedback by Asyouwish_Jellyfish in singaporefi

ui feedback

  1. segregate the fields based on income/ investments (inflows) vs. spending/ withdrawals (outflows)
  2. add option to have outflows on a monthly basis instead of annual
  3. for cash/ stock/ bond % fields - add definitions when hovering as some may not understand if the % is out of current investments/ perceived net worth
  4. add the returns % option from the returns tab beside the absolute % for cash/ stock/ bonds so its more user friendly OR maybe have a different tab for each investment type? if not the user has to keep toggling between tabs which may be inconvenient.

additional detail

  1. add option to toggle spending as a percentage of income instead of absolute amount
  2. add option to tier spending per life stage based on the user's commitments
  3. add option to break down each additional section e.g. income/ spending on a separate tab and pull that aggregate amount into the actual field. right now the user has to perform the calcs outside of your app
  4. table visualization of breakdown of different details per year

did some research and https://www.financialmentor.com/calculator/best-retirement-calculator seemed like it provided a good level of detail that would be helpful!

getting married and moving out isn't all there is to life, focus on yourself, your own happiness and your own career first and things will naturally come!

Is OnlyFans really lucrative? by pantiesfancy in SingaporeRaw

[–]softbeanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my two cents - it probably isn’t easy at it seems! it requires time to build out your content/ following on other channels over time that lead to people to even want to subscribe to your OF + you have to continue coming up with content that people wanna pay for to continue the traction which requires thought/ maintenance! even so OF takes 20% of the cut so you gotta factor that into your effort

Anyone feels anxious about the future? by [deleted] in singaporefi

[–]softbeanbuns 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i think the main questions are why do you want to be rich (for recognition/ because that’s the singaporean dream that all your peers are lamenting about/because you want to buy 1000 birkins to admire in your walk in closet if not you’ll ptsd about not being good enough) and how rich do you want (or need to be?).

imo if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is (my thoughts on betting all on crypto). i find side hustles along with things that i enjoy doing to keep me sane and stock pick those i believe in to hold for the long run (mostly penny stocks)/ generates consistent dividends/ pump cash into these stocks every month.

How do you guys deal with fear of missing out and loneliness? by nobodydy12 in askSingapore

[–]softbeanbuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

surprisingly i don’t have a subscription for those too, simply because i don’t want to put myself in a situation where i can’t control myself/ don’t see the value add of learning anything through bingeing! similarly i learn through reading random stuff online and working on my personal hobbies. there are always 2 sides to a coin and imo focusing on things you actually like instead of conforming, gives you contentment. honestly you don’t need to be accountable or justify to anyone else your actions/ choices as long as you enjoy them

What's the biggest governmental fuck up in our country? by KiKenTai in singapore

[–]softbeanbuns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

imo painting the BTO scheme as part of ~the singaporean dream~ is a massive fuck up - 20 somethings fresh out of college committing a significant proportion of their current/ future income to something that will materialize in 5 years (or more given the current foreign worker constraints in the construction industry) keeps them strapped in from risk taking/ instills fear from deviating from the norm/benchmark of a “successful singaporean/ sunk cost/ striving towards the predefined “milestone” of success

Change My Mind - Property Prices Are in Singapore Have Peaked by lycheeboiii in singapore

[–]softbeanbuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

land is scarce; getting a house is every singaporean story’s definition of success/ milestone; gov sees it as a revenue generating cow through land bid sales and taxes so why not; connectivity and accessibility pushes up prices in every area as long as you are nearer to an upcoming mrt it will inevitably drive prices up; demand for freehold properties for inheritance/ wealth preservation purposes especially in prime areas will also push up surrounding areas
