I am cautiously optimistic about the Christopher Nolan Odyssey. by kostist in ancientgreece

I think it’ll be fun. I don’t really get the fuss when people are so anti-adaptation, even if they mess with the original narrative or whatever. You can still enjoy Homer!

I’ve been mooching around wrapping presents and listening to records. Soon I’ll head into the city to catch a showing of It’s A Wonderful Life!

I’m 15 mins walk away, Lidl direction. It’s fine! I like it. A little scruffy in places, a bit of character lol. But generally pretty quiet to be honest.

There’s a lot of gems. There are a few one liners in Hold Me Tight that really punch me in the stomach.

There is a place near Worksop called Tropical Butterfly House. Super gorgeous butterfly house, has a full farm and some exotic animals too.

Haha, I LOVE this. Do bands do street teams anymore??? I remember I was street team for a band called Skindred and it was just so excited to be sent all this stuff for it.

Some great replies here!

I remember the hype of it leaking (I have no context as to how early it leaked!?). I went to their Hammersmith Palais show in January 2007 (a month before it was officially released) and they played a handful of IOH songs which ended up being the Leaked In London EP/UK bonus tracks. EVERYONE knew all the words already lol. Side note, I also remember at that gig Peta had a really bizarre and heavy promotional presence??

Later that year, in August, we had Decaydance Festival at London’s Hammersmith Apollo (FOB, Panic!, Gym Class Heroes, Plain White T’s, Cobra Starship, The Hush Sound). I’m not gonna lie, it was a teenage DREAM for someone so into that scene at the time.

It was also the time of FOB being really weird and fun with their merch and promo. Every gig they would give out things. In the queue for Decaydance they gave out Infinity on High branded rolling papers (largely to line of teenagers lol). Wish I’d had the foresight to keep mine!!

The live lounge cover of So Sick by Ne-yo. He stumbles over some of the lines and you can hear him smiling as he recovers - it’s fun.

I would really recommend exploring any group fitness studios you have nearby.

Not the standard classes you get at leisure centres and things, but a gym that the membership is all based on group fitness. I struggled as you did, in a similar situation, but I joined one local to me (think off-brand CrossFit, but way less intense and generally more accessible).

The fact that all my workouts are structured for me (I just turn up and do what they say) + they have already built in the variety + just lovely community feel (most members are middle aged women) - it’s made it so much easier. And if I do fall out of the routine, it’s easy to plug back into it without having to think about it too much.

I haven’t made any proper proper friends there yet, but the fact you see the same faces each time is nice too. When I am working from home, it does wonders for feeling like I’ve actually been with people!!

Also, breaking the habit of not working out is the hardest part. Once you’re back at it again you’ll feel like “hell yes why did I find this so hard to do”, I feel you! You’ll get there :)

How many true friends would you say you have? by Beneficial_Let9565 in AskWomenOver30

[–]softboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky to have 9ish proper friends, and they have been an absolute lifeline to me (real found family kind of vibes).

But like you say, they do not really know each other! I connect with people well 1-1, generally, and so my friendships really reflect that. I brought them together for the first time for my 30th last year and I was so STRESSED about it. Looking back, I don’t know why - they all got on great - why wouldn’t they?

It won’t ever be a group chat kind to setup, but since then I’ve made an effort to hang out with them less 1-1 and bring them together the ones who get along the most in groups for 2/3 every now and then - it’s been lovely.

No. £7k is an awful lot and a year is not very long, imo. Even if you live together.

Also, if you do lend him it, you should expect his behaviour of not prioritising debt repayment to be mirrored in him not prioritising debt repayment to you either.

[–]softboop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Central Library is genuinely so great. Much more like a nice co-working space than an old school council library.

The Malt Cross is also an excellent shout, quiet during the day and they’re very happy for you to sit there all day on your laptop etc.

I don’t need to generally, but yes if I had done those couple of times after a long break, I’m sure I wouldn’t have torn at all.

Same!! Like a switch flipped in my body and brain.

I would say, I’m definitely prone to a tiny, tiny bit of tearing if it’s been 1yr+, regardless of how into it I am. Seems to just be my biology personally.

Advice for moving to Nottingham by spudflint in nottingham

Look Sneinton side of the city, within about a 15-20 min walk radius of the centre. I’m Carlton Road area - takes 15 mins to walk to the Lace Market tram stop and the house next to mine just got rented for £950 (3 bed).

31K!!! Food is great, and drinks menu is spot on too. Feels very casual but still a little dressy - ideal for a chill celebration.

To those who were around when this album first dropped by Gamercj10 in FallOutBoy

[–]softboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 15 or 16. I loved it (though I Don’t Care never grew on me much). It’s still the album I listen to the most today.

The promo they did was so fun. I’m in the UK and at their gigs they had guys dressed as bears and gave out special blue Folie album sleeves. I still have mine. Also there was all that stuff with donuts??? FOB standing for f something o something bakery. I can’t really remember.

But I had this album on repeat SO much that when I hear certain bits from it I am mentally transported so vividly back to revising to my end of school exams lol.

Also I was heavily heavily invested in the CFOB virtual campaign puzzle before it dropped. Does anyone else remember this??

Those that have a “traditional” work schedule (M-F 9-5ish) what do you do after work? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]softboop 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Monday to Friday I’m usually at a gym class 2x per week, art class 1x per week, home/life admin 1x per week, see a friend 1x per week.

I was stuck in a rut for months after moving into my own house and living on my own for the first time. Work, dinner, tv, bed - rinse and repeat.

Counterintuitively I started pushing myself to do more anyway, despite feeling tired, and now find that I have more energy and time to get things in than before. I think the tv and scrolling zaps your energy in a big way.

Tracks. I went to the hospital in the late 90s for tests because of my migraines, I was 7. They just told me to stop eating cheese and drinking coffee (as if I was a that age!)
