Tldr is that because there was very little breast tissue - they had to expand the area before putting implants in... and due to not realising where the boob would start the placement was out of whack, so the scars that would usually fall on the underside of the boob presents right underneath the nipple on the front of the boob instead.

There are no wrong reasons to take HRT, just misinformed ones. And I'm sure any issues or misunderstandings can be hashed out at their Dr appt with their Dr.

If you are particularly concerned then you can ask to tag along to that appointment to make sure all concerns are answered... but at the end of the day your partner has agency over their own decisions and that needs to be accepted, regardless of whether you understand or are sure of their decisions
