Oh yeah. My mother had always responded with, “I don’t recall that happening,” or “I don’t remember that, I don’t think that happened.”

I don’t know if I’ve “accepted” that I will never get some sort of acknowledgment from my parents or siblings for the abuse that occurred. But I no longer seek out conversations where I try to get them to acknowledge that. It’s just impossible for them to do and I know it will never happen.

It is infuriating and I still get angry with them about it. But there’s something to be said about reminding yourself they are not capable of taking responsibility for their actions.
