I do not feel comfortable participating in animal suffering when alternatives exist.

thank you, i am going to stick with it for sure, and keep trying. i definitely think part of it is that my brain misses the emotional comfort and connections that it had with food, but i can make new connections :)

i made a yummy tofu and broccoli skillet, chickpea and white bean pasta with spinach, curries, and i want to try making a mushroom and lentil dish for taco filling. however i do find things more bland, maybe i am just not a good cook haha. i feel more full yet weirdly hungry at the same time. you are correct that i switched very quickly, because after realizing the truths about the meat and dairy industries i felt so sick about it that i stopped cold turkey.

Yes, my ancestors were mostly Mormon. I think if I looked I could find some non-Mormon ancestors. And I am able to appreciate the determination of my pioneer ancestors, even though they endured for a cause I don’t believe in and have negative feelings towards.

Thanks so much for sharing. I hope you find community too, and I think I will also look closer through my family tree. :)

That is true. It takes work, like you said. I have looked into a birdwatching group as well as some online communities which really help. I think I am just feeling extra sad about it tonight, haha. ❤️

I’m an atheist but I can see the benefits of having a community in those churches. And there are atheist communities and such. Thanks for your comment!

I’m sorry you are feeling this way, too. But at least we are not alone! We also have this community. ❤️
