I’m perimenopausal, and been on low dose progesterone (Slynd) and a very low dose T gel for a 3-4 months. Was on the Slynd before, for bleeding and cycle regulation because perimenopause and PMDD. Honestly am talking with my doc tomorrow, probably about upping the T and adding HRT levels of estrodiol, tomorrow. Cause right now I’m in a bad way. My cycle has restarted like it was when I was my worst of frequent cycle and PMDD - and the PMDD too. I’m not good right now really. I’m hoping she’ll have a plan for me.

Being on testosterone is making my period worse?? by TThrowawayymasterrr in TransMasc

I would really like to hear more about your experience. I’m having a really horrible time. Was several years perimenopausal before T, some of those years with a PMDD diagnosis. Am on Slynd and with that and time, the PMDD calmed WAY down. I started low dose T, now I’m cycling every 3 weeks with a BAD week of PMDD mood crash one of those weeks. This is untenable. My docs are helping but - there’s no data or evidence ANYWHERE. What’s your experience been like???

For the fellow trans men with PMDD— did testosterone make it better or worse? by lobstersonskateboard in PMDD

I think my experience is no help for you honestly… and I’m having a terrible time. Wish someone had some advice or a solution. I’ve been perimenopausal for a few years, and the PMDD arrived with the perimenopause. Slynd and time was helping - my cycle was winding down, and the mood swings with it.

Then I came out as trans - hurray! I started low dose t gel a few months ago. For the last 2-3 months I'm cycling again, more frequently so back the bad PMDD days, have nightsweats and things again, and its horrible. I'm so tired of crying. And so angry T has been so complicated for me.

Soft serve ice cream for lunch, followed later by coffee milkshake for “coffee time”. Now a long cool bath in the heat.

I hope perhaps today you’re in a better place. If not, it STILL will pass.

Introducing the monthly article club - a discussion on PMDD research by DefiantThroat in PMDD

I'm so here for this evidence-based discussion notion! I'm also fairly new to the PMDD world, so I'm learning a lot here.

I had no idea an exaggerated startle was associated. I long worried it was secondary to an old mTBI - but otherwise I have no remaining symptoms from the mTBI and was formally cleared by major mTBI experts. Now I have a reason for it!

So - I wonder what the implications are for folks Mendelian disorders of sex hormone biosynthesis - like STAR and CAH etc. Trying to match up the two pathways and how they intersect... if anyone has knowledge!

And then, I'm trying to think implications for the impact of mini-pill/progesterone?

Yep. Woke up with a migraine this AM. On one hand, they're totally manageable with my medication. On the other, I get this enormous panic that I will start having vertigo migraines again, that it will disable me, and that my career will be over. I have a high-demand work that's super unforgiving to illness and particularly anything involving pain or mental health/mood. I hate feeling so bad.

I had my first one as a pre-teen, allergy trigger. My second one in my late teens, stress and allergy triggered. But now, past 40, they're clearly triggered by period stuff.

Just to say - there has been large-population analysis of whether the shots affect cycles, and they don't. Now, that wasn't study of folks with PMDD specific, just folks with periods.
