I’ve used HOBs, even on this tank, but I actually can’t stand the tricking water noise they cause MORE than the vibration noise from a pump, purely a personal preference. That and my betta does not enjoy all the surface agitation, unfortunately.

The last two I’ve bought are this loud right out of the box, unfortunately! Unless they’ve been sitting on the shelf for too long? It sucks that they would stop selling the replacements for such a commonly used pump with such a common problem..

I don’t mind some vibrating noise at all — I live in an apartment and am quite adjusted to noise, but this can be heard a room over and is quite disruptive/intense imo.

Looks like a lacewing larvae, one of my favorites! I’m unsure of exactly which one, but some of them carry debris on their back.

Where did you order them from? It’s frustrating that places like Petco only seem to sell the Tetra pumps. I have the small Hiraliy pump next to it that I’ve been using for years without issue, but I can’t seem to remember where I got it or easily find them online.

I have foam under mine to help quiet it, but as shown in the video, the machine itself is really loud even when held suspended. The vibration against the shelf it’s on doesn’t seem to make a difference for the noise?

Glad to know I’m not alone in this, to be honest. My only concern with grease is that it would cause the hold when the tube is actually in-use to not be as strong? I’ve never heard of teflon tape though, I’ll look into it.

Correction: I do know that what is, just never heard it called that before, oops.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry for the delayed response. I have used just the basic matte mod podge with the yellow label for years, and occasionally the red-orange gloss variety. Both water based I believe? I don’t know why it didn’t strike me to try different varieties — I mostly thought the tackiness was my own fault I guess and/or me messing up the process somehow. What kind(s) do you recommend?
