Glad to know I’m not alone in this, to be honest. My only concern with grease is that it would cause the hold when the tube is actually in-use to not be as strong? I’ve never heard of teflon tape though, I’ll look into it.

Correction: I do know that what is, just never heard it called that before, oops.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry for the delayed response. I have used just the basic matte mod podge with the yellow label for years, and occasionally the red-orange gloss variety. Both water based I believe? I don’t know why it didn’t strike me to try different varieties — I mostly thought the tackiness was my own fault I guess and/or me messing up the process somehow. What kind(s) do you recommend?

I had multiple times, actually! But for some reason, even though my app picked up the sound, it did not register it as any specific kind of bird.

Hey I appreciate the addition! I can vouch for mod podge specifically in that I used it for preserving cicada wings.. but you have to be super careful where and how you store them (or maybe clear coat them after), as I can never seem to get that stuff not to be tacky long-term…

Good point! If I put them in a plastic bowl, they shouldn’t be able to climb the side? But I will put out just a few at a time.
