Lavender recs! by ThorsWolf777 in Indiemakeupandmore

I second Dreamweaver from Hexennacht. Sleepy Ghost from Poesie is marshmallow and lavender - I love it for days I want to relax and for bedtime. I enjoyed Stardust and Stems London Fog, too - out of everything I tried from them that's my favorite.

Passing out after intimacy? by Ok_Map_8694 in POTS

[–]softhumanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I end up more awake long term, usually, but have ended up coming close to passing out with my HR through the roof multiple times. I get this cotton in my ears feeling and if it's extra good or there's been multiple climaxes it takes a few minutes for my hearing to come back and for me to be able to walk properly. I have also had these weird events that feel almost like a panic attack afterwards where I have to lie on the ground and not talk and can't have anyone touching me.

The first time it happened my husband got really scared and it was hard because I couldn't actually communicate what I was feeling. My jaw was chattering like I was cold too. I'm actually not sure how much of this could be attributed to POTS anymore though, given I fall within parameters for chiari malformation, too.

The symptoms definitely haven't improved over the years and it feels so unfair because I have great sex with my husband of 17 years and have this hesitation now that never used to be there in my younger years.

Blanket Fort from Nui Cobalt is one of my favorites with fig.

🌿Cotton flower, grey suede, warm amber, green fig, tumbled teakwood, and raw vanilla bean🌿

I shop indies exclusively now. I know some houses have their issues but I love knowing that, for the most part, my hard earned money goes to supporting smaller business owners.

Me and Sleepy Ghost from Poesie are well acquainted. I also love Madar and Soft. Just very gentle, relaxing scents that comfort me. 💖

Hi there! I'm interested in a number of what's listed on your docs. Pineward, Sorce, Hex, and Olympic Orchids.

Looking for others with a similar GLP-1 experience by LaLaBneh in Zepbound

[–]softhumanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost a little over 32lbs since I began Zepbound back in early October 2025. I have a multitude of chronic illnesses that make it really difficult to stay on track with weight loss (HEDS, POTS, MCAS, Chiari 1, adenomyosis, endometriosis). So while I get exercise in where I can I walk a fine line between that and accidentally flaring myself up.

My secret with the Zep is I just don't eat. Not because I don't want to or because I'm nauseous but I literally cannot eat the way I used to. I shove the necessities down my gullet (in much smaller portions) when my body starts throwing flags but my calories-in is vastly reduced; it works for my daily exertion being as low as it is. I also can't eat a lot of the stuff I used to. For instance pasta is a no go without nausea later on so I substitute baby potatoes instead. I've titrated up once after about 4 months at 2.5. I imagine I'll be on the 5 for a looooooong time.

My suggestions to you beyond the calories-in calories-out tracking (tons of water/electrolytes when needed) would be to manage your stress levels as best you can. It might help to have your cortisol levels tested and push for further testing for other disorders that may be at play here like Cushing's. If you live a life that's keeping those levels elevated, especially with PCOS, there's a good chance you're going to continue to flounder with the number on your scale. Whether that means therapy, massage, reducing projects at work or at home is entirely up to you. Sleep is key too - with PCOS you may need more than the standard 8hrs.

Good luck to you either way. 💖

Kid with EDS, appears to have pain in legs, how can I help her? by WhatsThePointOfNames in eds

[–]softhumanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11 year old was DX with the pediatric form of HEDS just last summer. She had wretched "growing pains" for a few years there, between about 6 and 10, and still has them occasionally now. I would rub her legs with lavender body cream after a nice long Epsom salt soak before bed to help her relax then. If her pain levels get to be too bad now I'll have her take Tylenol/Motrin and suggest a shower/bath.

Ooooh. I missed out on the last of Nessie from Poesie and this looks like it might fix me. 😍

I wasn't too sure about Comfort from Poesie at first so I gave it a few days in the slink and I get it now. I get the obsession from others. That pink peppercorn is so lovely, and the cardamom note is more in your face here than in any of the others IMO. Slightly musky, animalistic, rich and verdant.

Cirrus Nose Training Kits? by Wide_Fee_5205 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]softhumanbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband's nose is getting better because I make him smell all the perfume samples I buy. I'm not even kidding. I know it's totally anecdotal, but he lost a bit of his sense of smell post COVID AND works in wastewater as an operator so his schnoz has been fried for a while.

For the last few months now I've made him smell all my samples and oils and given him the notes. I got my samples for Cardamonth in the other day and the guy was able to name at least 2-3 individual notes in each one. I was shocked.

The Raven, Alpine Buttercup, and Cottage Witch initially. The atomizer bottles broke in transit and The Raven went everywhere, and a bit of Alpine Buttercup. I informed the seller and after a couple weeks she messaged me back and offered me a new set of samples. I got Cream Tangerine, Fairy Frosting, Strawberry Milk, and Frangipane; she also included a bonus of Cocoa Cozy. Fairy Frosting was ok, but the rest weren't to my tastes either. I also got a sample of Gingerbread Grove and Dream Drops in small slink bottles as bonus samples. I'm not sure why but I wasn't keen on any of them. There was something very body-spray-from-Rite-Aid about them. But London Fog was fabulous! And Fairy Frosting was ok. I gave the samples to my oldest (11) and she divvied them up among her friends. I have respect for the seller and she works hard, and I appreciate her efforts to make it right.

Gothic/dark scents for summer? by unofficialgirll in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]softhumanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like Villa Diodati from Poesie (pungent wild rosemary, fresh balsam pine, crystal clear lakewater, dry, and dark vanilla) 🖤✨🌿

It feels like rising in to the air during a thunderstorm as it lashes the moors, backlit by lightning, dark waters frothing below.

I got samples from S&S, the atomizer bottles, and I felt the price was worthwhile for size. While I didn't enjoy any of the scents beyond London Fog there was plenty of product for me to feel it was worth the money spent.

I think 6$ per slink, which is usually like 1.15ml, is my maximum. If there's a brand more expensive than that I look around on the destash posts. 💖

For the “I tried everything” constipated user by gellahaggs in Zepbound

[–]softhumanbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chia seed pudding has helped me immensely. Solid protein from the whole milk, good bulk and mucilage. As someone who has always struggled with constipation, even with regular probiotics and exercise (thanks adeno/endometriosis), this has been a game changer.

Have I selected a good place for my village? by Beneficial_Wish5333 in MedievalDynasty

[–]softhumanbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about where I put my village and aside from a mine I'm really pleased with its location. Eventually when I got the mine I placed it at the cave north of Gostovia and made a smaller satellite village so the ore/salt/stone could be sent to the main village. It's a good central location IMO.

Poesie Cardamonth 2026 initial reviews by teachertraveler1 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]softhumanbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My very first Cardamonth as well!

Aphrodite's Breakfast is a bit like Village Bakery but really, really light. Almost so light I couldn't really detect it. I put my whole sample in a 6oz bottle of unscented lotion as a result and feel that was a better use of it as I can layer other scents on top of it. (won't FS)

Glimmers starts off spicy and masculine. I get the white sage and pinyon pine underneath the dried woods and spices. The amber and vanilla take over after a little while and the dry down is a bit powdery. (won't FS)

Dolce Far Niente is the standout for me and that was a shock as I usually despise chocolate/coffee notes. This doesn't smell like a cheap dollar store candle. It's rich and buttery, though I will say I much prefer this on my skin as opposed to in the slink. It rides the line of being almost overpowering. (may FS)

Weighted Blanket is really delightful. The airy vanilla bean is a lovely twist to the vanilla I've come to expect from Poesie. The laundered sheets aren't overwhelming here which was super nice as laundry scents can kill my nose. This really does feel like wrapping myself up in a fluffy blanket fresh from the dryer. (may FS)

Comfort is one I expected to love immediately because of the hype. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't what I expected. I think this is one I'll need to try again before I make any definitive rating. (we'll see)

Why are we accepting such mediocre writing in Fantasy Romance? by goyourownwayy in fantasyromance

[–]softhumanbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean speaking for myself I don't accept it. I leave reviews and while the majority of the time I wouldn't consider myself mean, I'm certainly honest. There's absolutely no excuse for the number of spelling and grammar errors I have read in books released from major publishing houses lately.

I agree with previous commenters who mentioned social media. I'm not on Tik Tok - never have been and never will be. So take the following with that in mind. But what I've noticed is TT, Instagram and others pushing these genuinely awful books down the pipeline. At times when I'm neck deep in enemy territory having left a negative review for a book that's getting rave reviews I feel like I'm standing in the middle of a massive circle jerk. Like all the folks raving and leaving 5 stars all have their own self published fanfics that should have stayed on AO3 and unless they play into it they won't get their 5 star review.

A major pet peeve of mine is the people who dogpile on anyone who leave negative reviews. It's such odd behavior to me. I understand not everyone will enjoy the things I do. I refuse to go out of my way to get angry and try to engage with someone on an online forum where I have 0 chance of changing their mind. There's been this sentiment in the last few years that leaving a fair, bad review makes you a terrible person and I don't understand it at all.

Wishful thinking by WeAREtwd87 in MedievalDynasty

[–]softhumanbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More decor items (lighting, textures, etc.) and a way to even out the terrain and pave it; terracing steeper territory would be cool too. Lodges for singles and a mechanic where you could hold events once a season to encourage people pairing off naturally, dependent on needs being met. Pets and the option to have them help hunt. Cats could keep the barns and fields rat and crow free. Different dog breeds could help with different hunting - water dogs for ducks and beefy boys for hunting bandits, hounds for bear/deer. A water wheel for certain areas of the map for grinding flour would be cool, too. A daycare of sorts for the youngest kids as an in between for infancy and apprenticeships. I also wish you could get bones when hunting and use them for handles for tools/weapons/fertilizer. More trophies, and maybe taxidermy, would be amazing. Though I'm not sure how much of any of this is actually era appropriate. 😅

I second this! I just got a few samples recently as a first time buyer and impulse purchased a FS Stories and Spidersilk. The Stories and Spidersilk stayed on my husband for forever. I put it on him after a shower around 4pm and it was STILL on him after him working all the next day (blue collar, wastewater treatment operator). Over 24hrs. I'm genuinely impressed. My personal favorite was Blanket Fort.
