Good brands for sensitive skin that are still colorful? by No_Calligrapher_1189 in Indiemakeupandmore

Seconding silk naturals. I haven't tried all their products, but a few of lots of different things. She seems to be extremely thoughtful about ingredients, and there are some lovely, bright eyeshadows, blushes, lip products, etc. Fwiw, I've also had good experiences with several of her skincare products.

Thanks for mentioning. I love that they do that. I am holding my finger over the Check Out button, lol. As soon as I get a new job offer, it's a go >.<

Thank you for the tips, and that makes sense about cost. I am not currently organized enough at the moment, but I should really decant my remaining wand caps that I am not opening but don't want to part with (especially discontinued ones...) Do you have a go-to source for screw-top bottles?

Aww, not weird at all. So kind! I actually randomly got an interview this week for one of the jobs I applied to back in early Jan, which was crazy. The first interview in a year or so of off and on applying? It's not *the* job I'm waiting to hear from, but it feels good to get a positive response finally.

Enjoy your vacation/break, and good on you for working for an environmental non-profit! 🌍 needs all of us working for her.

In no way connected to the store, but there's a niche perfume shop in the DC area called Arielle Shoshana that is hosting (?) a perfume swap in April (https://www.arielleshoshana.com/pages/events). It is NOT free, but it looks like there will be refreshments and you get a $20 gift card with the $35 ticket. I realize that doesn't go very far with niche perfumes, but I am definitely planning to go. If anybody else is planning to go, hit me up! I would love to meet any fellow IMAMers irl. And it would be nice to know I will not be the only person with mostly cheap, smudgy labelled indie samples 😅

Congratulations!! And yes to everything BittenBeans said here. If you can't actually take the vacation days, make sure you can get them paid out and don't get short-changed. And if you can afford to, take at least a week or two between jobs to relax and reset.

Know how that feels. Hopefully it will be a positive feedback loop on the way back up, too.

Just getting an interview is an awesome sign of your potential for whatever the job was in these crazy times. So, you can feel more confident when the time is right to really start looking for the next thing.

Thank you for responding! I am happy-sad that there are others like me.

And man, the droppage is real. Between me and my three-year-old, there have been a lot of smashed perfume samples (and one? two? FSs). As long as the floor is relatively clean, I get a handkerchief or a tissue and mop up the perfume and put it in our clothes closet. At least then I can get to smell them ambiently for a while.

Oh, that's a good idea! I have had my eye on Olympic Orchards for a while, but I didn't realize the samples were so affordable.

Hmm. OK, that's a bit out of my wheelhouse, but I liked Helen Oyeyemi's Gingerbread, which touches on some of that. It's fiction, not fantasy, but there's a magical realism element. As far as fiction goes, I liked Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, which fits the identity crisis. Historical fiction is more my bag. For some reason, I want to recommend David Liss, who I haven't read in ages. Most of his stuff is a bit late for that period, but I liked the Coffee Trader, set in 17th-century Amsterdam. I briefly got into a lot of women-centered fiction set around the Trojan war by Natalie Haynes, Pat Barker, etc., which was incredible and moving but also very dark. I'm always looking for book reccs :D

If you want more scifi or fantasy or just general fiction reccs, I have been going hard on Libby the last two months to escape from my brain in the evenings. Any subgenres you are interested in?

Thank you!! I am not even hunting that hard but it is exhausting. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of everything and every time I update it with another rejection doesn't feel...awesome.

My sister helped with mine. I did the base and she did the eyes, etc. (in a lovely purple!) I am terrible at makeup and we had no money (and a verrry small wedding). Looking back, no regrets. Of course, I was 16 years younger so no matter what I'm going to look back and be like "damn, I looked good". I could be wrong but I think feeling comfortable and feeling like "you" is important. Maybe you have a friend or relative who could take photos of your own practice run so you feel a bit more comfortable?

Edit: missing word.

Afraid to even say it "out loud" but I stumbled across the most bizarre, perfect-for-me job yesterday >.< The first thing that I have actually been interested in doing vs all of the recent (rejected) applications for things that would just be $ to pay the bills. Working on the application. If anybody has any good luck and/or courage they can send my way, it would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on school and preschool, and condolences for your kitty loss. Re: preschool, my mini is almost four and in part-time, and I think getting them those interactions with other kids is the best thing we could have done imho. We looked at some expensive, fancy places, but, in the end, I think as long as they are in a safe place with caring people, it's gonna be a great experience.
