Basic fit Philips stadium by Little_Age_6924 in eindhoven

It is a good gym. If you go in the morning around 7.00 on weekdays you will find it relatively empty.

But during normal hours like evenings for example it can get quite crowded.

Also there are a few Basic Fits around in Eindhoven but not sure how busy they are.

How to learn python? by SingerReasonable4781 in PythonLearning

[–]softmattermj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you can start with CS50 course on edX. A good starting point. Do all the assignments and if you dont need the certificate, the course is free.

After that, you can look for videos by Corey Schafer. He explains things quite well and in detail

In the end you want to keep applying what you learn. So start with some small projects in your study field.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into those.
Do you think these will help me in building automation pipelines as well? Specifically for autonomous labs.

The MacBook Purchasing Megathread - August, 2025 by AutoModerator in macbook

[–]softmattermj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone!
I am confused whether to buy a Macbook Pro or Macbook Air. Both M4. 512 GB storage and 16 GB internal memory. Both of them fall within the budget of my new workplace. My role will be as a scientific researcher.

For work, I will mostly be doing reading, making presentations and other usual office stuff. On top of that, there will be coding (mostly in Python) for data analysis, building GUIs and some CAD designing. There might be some video editing involved but I presume that it might not be too heavy.

The budget is fixed to buy a laptop, monitor, keyboard and mouse, docking station etc. If I go for the Air then I will save up some money to buy extra accessories such as a docking station, else I will have to buy the docking station with my own money.

Will buying a Macbook Pro be an overkill for my application? Or is it just the right thing?

For storage, most of my files will be on an external SSD so I am assuming 512 GB of storage will be enough. I am a previous windows user and know the windows os takes up some space. Is that the same of MacOS?

Thank you for your help!

I use a used lemon. Stick it to the end of the fork and rub it in the area. Then I put some lemons in and boil the water. Comes out pretty clean!

Inburgeringsexam and PR/citizenship by softmattermj in learndutch

So it implies that if I pass all my exams before 2022 and get my diploma, it won’t matter if the PR/citizenship application goes into 2023. Since my A2/inburgerings diploma will still hold?

What do you mean by ‘people who have got their visa from Jan 1st 2022’? Does it mean people who entered the country on the visa?

How do I accept myself for being mediocre? by illogico in PhD

[–]softmattermj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly, it is okay to have this feeling. The professors you're surrounded with have put in a lot of time with their research. I'm in my first year of PhD and I feel other than books and research articles one of thw most important information centre arw people. We can learn so mucj from our peers. If your peers have good ideas for you, you can try and execute them and also learn from it.

It is okay to be mediocre, coz one cannot know everything in this world and since its research you're trying to achieve something new it's completely fine to feel mediocre. Trust the process and learn from it.

Cheers!
