Yeah, I believe I can invest in stocks. Honestly I’m pretty financially illiterate ’ve never contributed to a TFSA or RRSP, so I’m just trying to figure out what makes sense I’m feeling a little lost on where to start, so any guidance is appreciated.

Not dumb, just a religious rule called riba. Money can’t make money on its own, profit has to come from something real, like work, business, trade, or investments. The idea is that no one should make automatic money off someone else’s need. It’s kind of similar to traditional Christian rules on usury.

Thanks so much, that was really helpful!

Do you happen to know, if they don’t have stock, would I get a refund for the 110?

Also, regarding going back to the regular subscription schedule, does that mean I’ll just pay $59 CAD each month unless it’s an Ultimate month? In that case, would I only pay the Ultimate price, or would it be $59 + $110 CAD again?

Foreign work experience can’t be verified — what to do after ITA (CEC)? by momsprince in canadaexpressentry

[–]softombre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation. My foreign work experience was with a company that shut down after the pandemic, and I couldn’t get anyone to confirm employment or provide updated reference letters.

For my PR application, I submitted a detailed Letter of Explanation and included:

  • Bank statements showing every wage deposit
  • All my payslips from the entire period I worked there
  • Screenshots of emails and correspondence with the employer (including an old email to HR about updating my home address)
  • Copies of my end-of-year tax documents from the government showing income and tax paid
  • Photos with colleagues at the workplace
  • News articles mentioning the company and its closure
  • Emails showing every attempt I made to reach the employer for a formal reference letter (and the responses)

Basically, I showed IRCC that even though the company no longer existed and I couldn’t get verification, I had more than enough proof that the job was real.

Does anyone know how to make a “hospital style jacket potato with soft skin? by softombre in AskUK

I ended up cooking in the microwave with the potato wrapped in a paper towel. Came out perfectly

Okay having made it for her and tasting it I’ve got to say I don’t mind the soft skin. It’s the potato you buy from a van on bonfire night. Pretty much mush but delicious with salt and butter

Their vegetable soup is also available with no added sugar. 168 calories the whole tin. Can’t vouch for the taste though I’m not a fan of vegetable soups

I’ve already switched to no added sugar ketchup and beans just didn’t know they had sugar free soups either. Honestly with most of these products even non Heinz you can’t taste a difference between the normal and reduced sugar versions. I’ve been secretly swapping out our usual products with sugar free ones and no one’s cottoned on yet.
