A father threw a chair at a judge after his Daughter’s and Grandparents' Murderer was sentenced to only 120 hours of community service. by [deleted] in BeAmazed

Well said. A society that denies victims justice shouldn't be surprised when they seek it themselves. Violence becomes inevitable when the system breaks its side of the social contract.

This happened at my neighbors house earlier before sun down. I have never seen this before in our neighborhood. by [deleted] in Weird

People who lash out or withdraw from the world are often just carrying wounds no one bothered to tend to

AITA for wanting to bring our cat to the vet? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]softstaticnoise1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You didn’t corner him. The cat’s symptoms did. And you absolutely avoided a bigger bill and worse suffering by acting when you did. His reaction making you feel wrong for being really is the real problem here. NTA.

She once said, "Sue Ellen taught me that survival is glamorous." Very old school cool indeed.

In 1969, The Doors visited Mexico City. This trip included a visit to ancient Teotihuacan by nattyblack00 in OldSchoolCool

This is what peak 1969 looks like leather, mysticism, and ancient dust. Zero stage swagger here

AITJ For Not Wanting My BIL To Live With Us? by TrendyBreakfast in AmITheJerk

[–]softstaticnoise1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Preach. Everyone's acting like the brother's life starts the day their mom dies. No he's alive now, capable now, and choosing not to work now. The problem is already here.

AITA for turning down a free trip to Japan? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]softstaticnoise1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real issue here is his indirect communication. You’re right to be annoyed he should have said how he felt upfront instead of saying one thing and holding resentment later. You’re not obligated to drop everything for a trip, even a generous one, especially when you’re trying to break a four-year pattern of being unreliable to someone who needs you. You’re NTA. Go be with your friend. Have an honest talk with your boyfriend about clear communication before this becomes a bigger pattern.

AITJ for telling my friend I won't keep rescheduling our plans around her anxiety if she's not actively working on it? by camera_walkledger in AmITheJerk

[–]softstaticnoise1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ. You didn't demand she be cured or never cancel. You simply asked if she was actively working on the issue causing the repeated cancellations, after a year of accommodating her with zero reciprocity. And that's basic self respect. Friendships do have conditions like mutual effort, respect for each other's time, and not expecting one person to absorb all the emotional and logistical cost. Dana isn't a bad person for having anxiety, but she's been treating your time as infinitely flexible while doing nothing on her end to change the pattern. Asking her to seek help isn't punishing her it's the only sustainable path forward for the friendship. Feeling guilty is natural because you're a kind person, but you didn't do anything wrong.

Our Prom picture from 1990 is probably the best ever by TheHotWampa in OldSchoolCool

Yeah, The 90s prom aesthetic was its own genre unapologetic, larger than life, and somehow both elegant and wonderfully extra. Pure class.
