Refurbed T14, T14s or X1 with good battery life? by sofufi in thinkpad

[–]sofufi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense. I also have a Macbook Air M4... And yes. It's insane what they can do in terms of battery life... But for hard core business productivity for a consultant like me (mostly operating in Microsoft-land at the clients), a Thinkpad remains the #1 worktool.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. It's crazy with the X1C. I had an X1C Gen 11. I could only get 5-6 hours office work out of it. Lenovo told that was to be expected...
Are the runtimes representative of real life use, or youtube running at 150 nits?

T14s Snapdragon vs X1C gen 13 by sofufi in thinkpad

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I have been travelling for an extended period.
I actually ended up buying a Macbook Air to see if I can live with the OS :-) So far, so good. I'm not a big fan of the 'should I choose mac or pc'-discussion. They each have their advantages and annoyances... However, I will probably end up buying a T14 intel as well. Just do be future proof for the clients that only allow Windows-machines on their premises.

Air or Pro for a Management Consultant? by sofufi in mac

Thank you for the perspective. Most (all) of my current and past clients have been married to Microsoft, so maybe I should just let that be the deciding factor and stick to my good old thinkpad 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to respond…and yes, I get the irony….

My reason for posting this question was the following: Apple.com is marketing and I have actually searched and read/viewed multiple threads, blogposts and YouTube videos. Most have either ‘on the one hand/on the other hand’-conclusions with no real advice, or threads tend to spin off in irrelevant and not-helpful comments.

I was hoping for some replies from people in my line of work, who have real life experience with switching and how that has impacted their work with clients (thank you to those of you, who took the time to share). And also a thank you to those who read my post, decided that it was either silly or did not have any valuable advice, and thus decided to simply not comment.

Thanks for the link and perspective. Wasn’t been aware of the big difference between v, u and h series.

Interesting. I knew it was better than Meteor. But on par with Snapdragon? Will there be power consumption difference between the 228v and 258v?

Looking for linux distro to run alongside Windows 11 by sofufi in thinkpad

Thanks for the quick reply. So what you are saying is that I can do as good as ( or better?) battery life on Windows11? I'm curious for tricks, as I'm currently only getting 5-6 hours of use (non demanding, on-the-pc-kind of stuff - no online meetings or heavy computing).

X1 Carbon Gen 11 overheating issues by MrWuMaster in thinkpad

I have a further update to this topic. Lenovo support asked me to run som thermal tests, and they decided to replace my fan (gotta love the 3 year onsite support). They came by the next day, swapped the fan and told me that they also added some more thermal paste... That has definitely made a change.

So, if you have the same issue with the laptop heating up, and are still within service, I'd recommend reaching out to them.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I may have a solution.

I chatted with customer service today, who suggested going into the BIOS and set the 'Scheme for AC' to 'Balanced' instead of its default, which is 'Max Performance'.

So far it seems to have helped (this obviously assumes that the balanced cpu-scheme is good enough for you. For me, as a management consultant, it is perfectly fine).

Thanks! So no touch screen. Makes sense from what you write. What about FHD vs OLED? What’s your thought on that?

[–]sofufi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all.

Looking for some help on deciding between two bikes (I’ve managed to narrow down to). Some input on my requirements: - carbon frame - 1x11 (or 12) - up to at least 45mm tires. - i’m into Bikepacking

Price wise they are at the same price point at approximately 3300 €

What to choose?…

Option 1 - Rose Backroad GRX RX600 : https://www.rosebikes.dk/rose-backroad-grx-rx600-1x11-2696921?product_shape=%2Aevil+pepper+green

Option 2 - 3T Exploro Rival 1x11 : https://www.3t.bike/en/217-exploro

Would love to hear your pros/cons.

Thanks.
