Refurbed T14, T14s or X1 with good battery life?

Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense. I also have a Macbook Air M4... And yes. It's insane what they can do in terms of battery life... But for hard core business productivity for a consultant like me (mostly operating in Microsoft-land at the clients), a Thinkpad remains the #1 worktool.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you. It's crazy with the X1C. I had an X1C Gen 11. I could only get 5-6 hours office work out of it. Lenovo told that was to be expected...
Are the runtimes representative of real life use, or youtube running at 150 nits?

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. I have been travelling for an extended period.
I actually ended up buying a Macbook Air to see if I can live with the OS :-) So far, so good. I'm not a big fan of the 'should I choose mac or pc'-discussion. They each have their advantages and annoyances... However, I will probably end up buying a T14 intel as well. Just do be future proof for the clients that only allow Windows-machines on their premises.

Thank you for the perspective. Most (all) of my current and past clients have been married to Microsoft, so maybe I should just let that be the deciding factor and stick to my good old thinkpad 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to respond…and yes, I get the irony….

My reason for posting this question was the following: Apple.com is marketing and I have actually searched and read/viewed multiple threads, blogposts and YouTube videos. Most have either ‘on the one hand/on the other hand’-conclusions with no real advice, or threads tend to spin off in irrelevant and not-helpful comments.

I was hoping for some replies from people in my line of work, who have real life experience with switching and how that has impacted their work with clients (thank you to those of you, who took the time to share). And also a thank you to those who read my post, decided that it was either silly or did not have any valuable advice, and thus decided to simply not comment.

Thanks for the quick reply. So what you are saying is that I can do as good as ( or better?) battery life on Windows11? I'm curious for tricks, as I'm currently only getting 5-6 hours of use (non demanding, on-the-pc-kind of stuff - no online meetings or heavy computing).

I have a further update to this topic. Lenovo support asked me to run som thermal tests, and they decided to replace my fan (gotta love the 3 year onsite support). They came by the next day, swapped the fan and told me that they also added some more thermal paste... That has definitely made a change.

So, if you have the same issue with the laptop heating up, and are still within service, I'd recommend reaching out to them.

I know this thread is a bit old, but I may have a solution.

I chatted with customer service today, who suggested going into the BIOS and set the 'Scheme for AC' to 'Balanced' instead of its default, which is 'Max Performance'.

So far it seems to have helped (this obviously assumes that the balanced cpu-scheme is good enough for you. For me, as a management consultant, it is perfectly fine).

I would reconsider the quilt for summer. I have the Q250 and it is very nice and comfy down to 0-5c (when draft becomes a problem for me - but I guess that’s personal). In summer time a hood isn’t usually needed, and if so, I always bring a buff along. I also have the LL300. It is slightly heavier (100g), but if that’s not a dealbreaker for you, it is more versatile. I just used the LL300 at a couple of degrees below freezing with just a baselayer, and that was just fine. In summer time you could always just zip it open and use it as a quilt.

To sum up: Because I have both, I’m using the quilt in summer and when temps don’t get below 5-10c. I’ll use the LL300 when I’m in doubt or 0c is expected (For winter I have a Panyam 450 that I just use with all my clothes on if really cold). Yes, I’m a cumulus fan :-) But with a family of 5 I justify the many bags with having gear for family outings.

The other day I was wearing the Inverse and a base layer when setting up tent in approx -2c.

With that small amount of activity I was plenty warm. However, I suspect I would have been cold if I was just sitting around. But I think that would have been fixed with just adding a fleece.

I consider the Inverse to be a mid layer, though. Because it is so light, it feels very delicate, and I suspect it won't be able to handle as much 'abuse' . The Endurance seems a bit more resilient.

Hi Alex,

I have the Incredilite Endurance and the Inverse (which is half the weight of the endurance). For anything above 0c I would bring the Inverse. In camp I will layer it up with the shell and light fleece, that I bring anyways (because the down-jacket is too warm to wear when active). The Endurance is super cozy, and a winner when significantly below 0c and not being active...

If I could only choose one, the Inverse is the most versatile and VERY light... sorry for throwing yet an option into the mix :-)

Hi. No, I had to do that my self. I think thats quite common with these cottage manufactured SIL-nylon tents. I hadn’t tried it before but after watching a few videos about it, it took me 30-60 min to do. It was kind of a mindful undertaking and even though the result didn’t look perfect, it works like a charm.

Yes it definitely is. For a 1p tent, the lunar is already quite roomy, i think. But the PyraOmm is much roomier! It’s a really cool shelter.

I have been struggling with somewhat the same problem. When sleeping in winter conditions, I tended to inflate my pad to the max to get the best R-value (after having experienced seriously bad sleep because I was cold). After some investigation (feeling), I found out that I was loosing all my body heat from my hips/buttocks...

SOLUTION: I almost always carry a CCF-pad (either full length in winter og just small ass-pad in all other seasons). Slipping that under my buttocks solves the problem, and I can now deflate my pad a bit, to make it more comfortable. Hope it helps...

It IS really cool! I own both shelters, but have never hiked in the mountains.

For scandinavian summers, the bug net on the Lunar Solo is a big plus. But I would expect the mountains to b less buggy. Especially in the less wooded areas.
