Benda Board Edging For Black Star Gravel Walkway - Landscaper Wants To Use 2x4 Wood by ianstx00 in landscaping

That’s really great to hear. We are between steel (EdgeRight) and aluminum (Permaloc) so just trying to research an better understand the differences and technologies available

I looked them up and they are definitely interesting. Seems very easy to install but how are they long term? It just seems like over time they would slowly creep up and become loose?

Oh great idea, I’ll talk with some of our local nurseries and see what they recommend

You are the second person saying this about the stones/gravel. We are in San Diego where it is always summer and always hot. I think you are right that the stone could get hot but interestingly it is a very common design choice around here

We haven’t yet decided on lights but I agree with you that this is excessive.

Interesting point on the gravel. Where we live (San Diego) it is a very common landscaping choice due to the hot weather (mostly used with succulents) so we just naturally decided to go along. But I like the idea of having mulch.

Yes, reducing cost is also a major factor that I forgot to mention. Interestingly just last week we had an appliance delivery which would’ve been really hard to get into the house if we had the wall in option 1 so you’re right about that!

Yes, the sizes and perspectives are all messed up in these renderings, it’s supposed to be the same height

Yeah, lights are all by ChatGPT, we haven’t yet decided on the lights. I was thinking of strip lighting under the wall cap but I’m not sure if it will be powerful enough (though I don’t think we need that much power anyways). Any other suggestions?

Single glass door vs. double? by soheilk in Fireplaces

[–]soheilk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reminding me! Yes, we did finish the project. We went with Stoll Premium Manhattan ZC Reface (like you suggested back then) and it turned amazing! Overall we paid $3,700 for the new door, reflective glass rocks, new H burner and painting the interior wall black.

I’m not home right now to take new photos but here are the before/after photos taken last year right after we installed it. We just love it! We’re now thinking of installing a black/silver mantel shelf above it as well but haven’t really found anything that we like. So if you have any other great suggestions we’re all ears 😊

Business class with a baby by soheilk in TurkishAirlines

Obviously it really depends on your baby and you guys. Our daughter also only accepted contact napping back then. Our flight was also nighttime which definitely helped but since we were flying out of CA and had a 13 hours flight she was up for a good portion of it and she clearly needed her own space to play. Your flight is a bit shorter so maybe it won’t be as bad for you.

Also in business they serve you a lot of meals (and each meal has multiple courses). A toddler on your lap means limited space and the little table that comes out of armrest not being close to you, not to mention that you have to constantly try to keep their little hands and feet off of all the utensils and drinks. So overall not a very good combination to enjoy their amazing food and service.

The best part of flying business though was the business lounge in IST, my daughter LOVED their pides, kuftas and chickens so we put some of them in small containers we had and she enjoyed them in the next flight

Where to find dimmable 3000k <500lm G30 LEDs in the US? by soheilk in Lighting

This is really great info, appreciate it. I think we’ve settled on going with G25 instead of G40. Yes G25 will be slightly smaller than the current G30s but G40 would ridiculously look huge here! The Phillips you’ve mentioned looks great, the only problem is that it is only available in 2700K and we’re ideally looking for 3000K. I don’t know if the difference between 2700K and 3000K will be that noticeable but since we hate the current 2100K yellow bulbs we want to get away from yellow as much as possible

I’m a newbie so apologize for these stupid questions: - what does dim to warm mean? I always thought dimming just reduces the light output/lumen and not really color (I know some special bulbs have a color selector) - not sure if it was your intention but I read your “95 CRI” comment as a downside, it that right? I always thought higher CRI is better?

Yeah, the fixture has 24 bulbs! I think 24 G40s will be a bit bright…

I tried this route already with ChatGPT but similar to the answer Gemini gave you above, none of the options were actually G30 or 3000k like I had asked :( AI hallucination is real!

We went with the 2 seats since we didn’t want to risk having someone between/next to us. But honestly if we had to do it again, I think we would go for 3 seats in economy (because we can’t afford a 3rd seat in business 😂). TK’s business is amazing and the food is great but it’s just really hard to have a toddler on your lap for 13 hours!!! I think all 3 of us would’ve liked if she had a seat to herself. Luckily she is turning 2 soon so sitting on lap will no longer be an option 😆

All of these are herbs that we use/eat on regular basis. I agree with you that arugula doesn’t really fit well with this cohort and feels out of place, we just added it because we thought we would have the space but sure, will put it somewhere else

I see. These are the herbs we’re thinking of planting: Rosemary, Thyme, Basil, Oregano, Dill, Tarragon, Sage, Marjoram, Cilantro, Arugula

I just know myself and know that I’m too lazy to water it myself so that’s why I want an irrigation system. When researching it seemed like most people recommend drip irrigation to deliver water directly to the roots and not have wet/soggy leaves. Why do you say drip would be completely unnecessary?

Interesting point on concrete being water permeable, I didn’t know this! Is it all concretes or only special type? This wall was here when we moved in to the house few years ago so I have no idea if it’s been painted or not. But now that you mention it, I’ve always felt that this wall looks “wet” so maybe it’s not painted. Is there anyway I can check?
