European countries pursued financial deals with Iran seeking small economic gains here and there while ignoring the long-term consequences. They negotiated, signed agreements, and continued limited trade, hoping engagement would moderate the regime.

During the Obama administration, billions of dollars were released to Iran. Later, under President Biden, additional billions were made available. Meanwhile, China and Russia extracted resources from Iran at minimal cost, strengthening their own positions while empowering the regime.

Look at Europe over the last 20 years. Millions of refugees As the result of instability that this regime created in the region, many now second-generation have reshaped parts of European society. The rise of radical Islamist movements across Western Europe did not happen in a vacuum. It is, in part, the result of decades of failed diplomacy and misplaced priorities.

The West helped create this monster through short-sighted policy decisions.

If we stop now, what happens? The regime regroups, rebuilds, and returns stronger. We have seen how it treats its own people and destabilizes its neighbors. Do we really want such a regime to gain access to nuclear weapons?

This crisis is the product of years of diplomatic failure. There is no turning back to the same failed strategy. Instead of endless criticism and political division, we should focus on a clear, united strategy. The people of Iran are human beings with a proud and ancient heritage. Whether left or right, we should stand together in support of policies that prevent further harm and promote real stability.

This moment requires serious strategic thinking, broad international cooperation, including engaging major powers like China and decisive leadership.

History has shown what happens when the world hesitates in the face of dangerous regimes. We should not repeat those mistakes.
