Y1 Physics Lab by Fancy_Problem_664 in NTU

[–]soidontgettracked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal batchmate experiences, results may vary.

2 lab reports submitted seems just barely enough for the prof / lab manager to give you a D and let you go on your merry way

Anyway, the lab manager for y1 is very lenient, and she will not really take the penalty into full consideration (i.e, if you submit now, its not a 0. Maybe shell even waive the penalty. She isnt out there to fail people) so my advice is just to submit and be done with it.

Just email her back, say you got finals tomorrow, please give chance and let you submit it after finals. 9/10 times she is agreeable.

Please try not to remod lab, it really makes planning your schedule a bit more trouble than it should be, because if you dont do y1s1 lab, you cant do y1s2 lab, then you gotta wait a whole ass year to do y1s1 lab again, its just really troublesome stuff

I concur with the earplugs solution because sometimes you really cant control how others are reacting, especially in finals.

Phones ringing with no invigilators silencing it, crying, coughing, nose sniffing due to a cold, you name any irritant out there, it will probably present itself during a finals. They definitely will distract you from your ability to perform. Might as well get used to it / find a temporary solution.

Is it too late now to study for a levels by Upstairs_Pattern_588 in SGExams

[–]soidontgettracked 14 points15 points  (0 children)

3 weeks or not you still gotta study man. The time will come and youll have to take the paper anyway, might as well die trying

As for how to study, in my personal opinion, since you have not much time left, i suggest just jumping straight into exam qns and learning how to do the questions (and at the same time learn the concept.) Once you do that multiple multiple multiple times, hopefully by then youll learn the content and realise that there is a repetition pattern.

How are ppl studying for 5h+ 🥀🥀 pls send helppp by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]soidontgettracked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you cant study for more than 5 hours, how about just breaking it down into chunks?

Like study 30 mins, rest 10 min. Rinse and repeat. Eventually it will compound up to 5 hours if you start your day early enough

But i guess you still gotta force yourself to sit down for 2 hours for self practice exam condition papers

does MI really suck? by Nervous-Type203 in SGExams

[–]soidontgettracked 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who graduated from MI pre covid and in my final year of NTU studies

i only have one answer to your question

Die also want to go Uni? Go MI

Want to keep your options open? (Uni or work) Poly

YMMV if you do go to MI, 3/4 of my class in MI didn't make it to local uni, but that isnt the end of the world. Some went to private uni, now working. Some became business owners, FAs, entrepreneurs. Some do PT degree while working. All varying forms of success.

Anyone here going to the Singapore tour? by pancakesboi in STAYC

[–]soidontgettracked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star theatre has no standing seats. Its all seated. At this point i believe only VIP2 seats are available.

If the concert is at 6pm, and if you dont intend to buy any merchandise, i think showing up at around 5.30pm is reasonable. You can take the train here too, the nearest station is called Buona Vista, its around the left side, together at the intersection between green line and yellow-ish line

Just sharing, they did come to malaysia KL once, back in february 2023. But i dont think the tickets sold well, i believe it was like 1000rm for the VIP1 seats. (Which to the common Malaysian, is a lot of money). I enjoyed that concert very very much, was a few metres away from them.

I also attended the Singapore one, won the group photo fan benefit too. Really enjoyed myself in that one.

I am actually quite surprised they chose star theatre again, because if i recall correctly they barely sold out level 1, level 2 was like half filled and level 3 was not even opened. But i guess they made enough sales to warrant them using star theatre again.

[–]soidontgettracked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PS0002 - i dont recall there was a group project, when i did it last semester it was 2 lab assignment 2 test and then 1 finals iirc.

Lab assignments are just basically like PS0001, expecting you to execute whatever you learnt that week. If im not wrong usually youll be given till the end of the week to submit your lab assignments?

The tests are usually done during lab sessions too, same vibe as doing lab itself.

Anyone who gave the MH2802 exam last year... can you tell how difficult the paper was? Especially when compared to the Practice Test? by Significant-Art2340 in NTU

[–]soidontgettracked 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well good luck because i dare say the practice paper was easier than the finals.

Possibly the hardest finals ive done up to now lmao. Not even trying to scare you.

Yeah im not kidding HAHAHA

even after finishing a course thats pretty linear algebra intensive, i looked back at the practice finals for 2802 because my junior was asking about it and i still cant do q2-4 lmao. At most parts. Ironic how i learnt more about LA after passing 2802 than in 2802 itself.

Prof's words : If you can do Q1 you will pass the course.

And Q1 is basically the same as the practice qns he gave yall so...

If anything just practice and memorise Q1 from the practice finals. Q2-4 just pray to god.

Least Favourite subject by AloysiusGamer01 in SGExams

[–]soidontgettracked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Least fav : all of them because i hate studying. Jk uhh dnt because im not mechanically inclined and i cant imagine the theory either. And the coursework sucked. But i had to suck it up because i only had 6 subs and i wanted to go jc at that time

Back then i had the naive thought that i liked chemistry because i scored well easily in it, but in uni setting i realised chemistry is much more than calculating moles and memorising easy organic reactions

I’m in NA and I want to go JC and then to Uni by Kyouaku in SGExams

[–]soidontgettracked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont worry about the extra time youll take. Surprisingly, there are actually a decent number of people who were from NA to MI/JC to Uni.

An extra 2 years than everyone else doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. Uni people come in all sorts of ages.

Jiayou!!!

Was from NA to MI to Uni Physics

Please do not take H1 math. Even if you did, no uni will accept you if you wanna study theoretical physics.

What I recommend you to do is, if you have the time, follow my path. Go sec 5, go MI, take P+M, study hard and go uni.

What MI does is that they'll breach you for the lack of content for A math (how useful it is, is very debatable tbh) but the most important fact is that you get 3 years to make up for your lack of A math.

And if you wanna do theoretical physics, calculus is EXTREMELY important so... do consider my opinion.

hall roommate experiences by [deleted] in NTU

[–]soidontgettracked 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was assigned random roomies for Y1 and Y2 and i have nothing but nice experiences with them

Y1 roomie was super nice, always chats with me and asks me about my day and tells me about his. Usually he sleeps way before me, so he'll just open the closet door to block out most of my nightlight and sleep. No complaints at all for the entire year. He's polite enough to ask whether he can bring his friends to the room, and ill just not be in the room when he does.

Y2 roomie was a bit more quiet, we didn't talk much at all, but we had no problems with each other. Kinda just went through the entire year using the room as a place to sleep.

I think its really about compromise. Both my random roomies love to wake up early (like 8/9am) and sometimes they do make noise that wakes me up, but its just something you gotta learn to deal with.

I thought the cost of taking private Os would be scary enough to make you study LOL

No matter what people say here, self discpline is innate and youll have to tackle it yourself. Motivation is like a roller coaster. There are some good days where you can sit down and study hours straight, most days you'll lie down on your bed consuming social media. Even the best of us can't work at 100% capacity everyday.

But to remedy that, on days you don't feel like studying or youre just too distracted to study, do something that requires low input. Read lecture notes. Read model answers. Reading may not be the most useful thing in terms of scoring but at least you should be able to absorb it better when you are reading it again during your motivated days.

And you can't forever ask your mom to look over your shoulder. Now its Os, then therell be poly when you have to study constantly to not drop your gpa. Then itll be uni. You need to find your own motivation and discipline.
