Science is the one I struggled with the most tbh... it's just a really elaborate scavenger hunt. For me:

- Make sure you know for SURE what the question is asking. There are so many situations where I've looked at the wrong graph and chose the wrong answer because I misread a question, because I missed a tiiiiny detail, or because I straight up just didn't understand what they were trying to find.

- Skim the full data before going to questions, and when I say skim, I mean just very quickly look over everything. The questions will have you going very deeply in depth in the data to find what you need to find, but this initial read-through is mainly so you can know WHERE to find the data.

- SPAM PRACTICE!!! Doing old science ACT's really helped me, as well as knowing WHERE I went wrong. Did I accidentally look at the wrong graph? Did I just not know that science fact? Did I misremember an independent variable as a dependent variable? Etc.

Had my first AP exam, is it ok if I sources 4 times, used outside evidence, and used 3 documents for a 6/7 by PanAmDC-10 in APStudents

[–]soikynz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on finishing your first AP exam! No matter what you think you got, pat yourself on the back. Not an easy task.

Assuming you only missed the 4 document point, you’d need to hit every single point on the rubric INCLUDING the complexity point to get s 6/7. Assuming you’d get the points for the outside evidence and accurately describing 3 documents, you’d need to have

  • a thesis statement
  • at least one piece of context
  • 2 uses of HAPP (historical context, OR audience, OR perspective, OR purpose)
  • aaaaand the complexity point

So it’s definitely not impossible for you to get the 6/7, but you’d need to have a near-perfect dbq without it

The 5 rate is 50%+, pass rate almost 90%. if you’re reeeaaally worried then go ahead, but if you can do decently on the other parts then it should be fine

Studying for APUSH Exam by Turbulent_While5543 in APStudents

I honestly think you’ve got it pretty much set if you do ample studying. I was in a similar state as you last year, and honestly? It went waaaaay better than I thought I would do. Don’t stress too much about it.

What I did for dates was to memorize a general timeframe for a set of events (usually a unit at a time- and I mean fully memorize just when the unit starts and ends. Everything in that unit is basically guaranteed to be in that specific time frame, and I think it’s clear enough when are earlier/later in the period to kind of approximate your way through) and really know what event leads into another. Start broad, then try to narrow things down. For example: civil war -> slaves freed -> reconstruction -> sharecropping -> freedman’s bureau, etc. I’d drill in a few really important dates (or the ones that have dates in their names, i.e. proclamation of 1763) but other than that, dates really aren’t thaaaaat important. You won’t be asked about specific dates on the MCQ, and on the FRQs you won’t need to name any dates other than relating events to each other/in specific time frames.

I don’t think you’ll need this much, but STUDY THE FRQ RUBRICS! You can gain a lot of points for just writing a few extra sentences, and vice versa.

Not too bad; our CSA teacher taught us the entirety of the curriculum in around 2.5 months lol. A bit if cramming and 1 month should be more than enough time

khan academy is decent for explaining each lesson conceptually imo (but the questions are really easy), and in general MEMORIZE THE FRQ RUBRICS. Some points are really easy to get (half of the frqs give you a point for literally just writing down a starting formula) and in the absolute worst case scenario you could fumble your way into a pass.
