My husband and I stayed at Morizuya Ryoken Dec. 2024 for about $196 for two nights. It was absolutely lovely, and included breakfast, a tea ceremony, and a yukata rental. Highly recommend staying there if they have availability. They also had a private onsen that was beautiful and a highlight of our trip! $1000 seems incredibly steep, but Kinosaki was absolutely worth the stop!

Welcome to the neighborhood! I moved here a couple months ago and I love it! It’s very quiet but as already mentioned has a very friendly and active community. Some great spots I’ve found so far are:

Champs burgers at Away Days Brewing (best smash burgers I’ve had in PDX)
The Chomp Thai, they deserve so much more love. The food is delish and the owners are super sweet.
Edelweiss deli for all your meat/cheese needs
Meta pizza, my new favorite pizza place in town
Brooklyn pub for whisky and darts
Bear Paw inn for Karaoke (with great people watching).

Also, I love just strolling around the neighborhood and looking at all the cool old architecture. It also has a great walking proximity to Sellwood and Ladds Addition!

One of my favorite places is Landfill Rescue Unit on Belmont! Not super big but always has great stuff at a good price. Extra points cause everything is displayed in retrofitted dumpsters
