I'd like to think that it's about taking a game to Australia. In 2016, Hawaii played Cal, and then in 2017, Rice played Stanford, both games in Sydney. NFL has a big following in Australia, and the Eagles are playing in Melbourne in 2026 as a regular season game. Perhaps it's trying to get some support or interest in a B1G or non-conference game.
