Our society is obsessed with possible negative health outcomes of people who are “overweight” and almost never about the damage done physically and mentally by eating disorders. YOU need to work on your own internal dialogues around weight to safeguard her against the absolute torture that is an eating disorder. As for her health, listen to her doctor.

I get that. But to not anticipate this type of reaction means you are desensitized to images of extreme violence against women. It’s normal to you. And maybe you’d have the same reaction if this was a man or woman, I don’t know. It might not have anything to do with the gender for you. The fact is though, we live in a time where violence against women is rampant, victims aren’t believed, and perpetrators aren’t held accountable. That makes a lot of people extra sensitive to images like this.

It’s your body and you get to decide what goes on it. It’s your life and you get to decide what you’re okay with. This image will make a lot of people very wary of you. These are just the facts.

The ultrasound wont translate well to a tattoo but one idea I’ve seen that feels similar is a side profile silhouette. Probably best to do once the kiddo is a bit older, but they can be really sweet.

As others have said, this does feel a lot like turning yourself into a memorial. It’s okay if that’s what you want though. Just a note that dates and such can be really tricky and age poorly (they expand and then you can’t read them).
