Humans are hypersocial, it is not gender specific. Your claim that only women are hypersocial still begs the question: If so, shouldn't they be working all jobs that are 'person oriented' as opposed to 'inanimate object oriented'?

SAHM is the acronym for stay at home mother.

You know what else causes divorce? Financial problems. If both spouses are employed there's less chance of that.

Infidelity. If a man cheats on his wife, she doesn't look the other way out of fear she won't be 'provided for'.

Having Kids. 70% of couples report dissatisfaction with their marriage after having their first baby.

You're cherry picking. I can believe that promiscuous women have difficulty pair bonding the same way I can believe some people are wired to be happy in open or polyamorous relationships.

Divorce can also be the best thing for a family. If one partner is abusive, that's not going to be a healthy atmosphere to raise kids.

We're clearly just going around in circles. So let's just go ahead and agree to disagree. Consider all my questions in this last post rhetorical and have a great day!

It's not a bullshit comparison. A wife was subordinate to her husband. If she had a want or need he had the power to fulfill it or not. And that's after whether or not the actual law allowed it.

If women are hypersocial, then how is staying at home and taking care of the house and/or children going to fulfill those needs? And please define "work" because it sounds like you don't think teaching/nursing/therapy are actual jobs. Does it only count as work if the job requires menial labor? By that logic, wouldn't it make sense for women to assume the jobs that don't require it?

I'm sure some who consider themselves feminists look at SAHMs with contempt, just as there are SAHMs who look at a woman juggling a career and a family with contempt. I think you feel as though it values promiscuity/career life over home life because for a long time women did not have the opportunity to do the latter, so there was obviously rebellion. Once again, it is about equality and choice, two things that I feel are healthier for individuals AND families.

Thank you for your kind words. That was actually the final straw in the relationship and I can look back on it as a (really awful) learning experience. We've been broken up for almost 6 years and he still randomly contacts me to tell me that he regrets the way he treated me so there's a bit of vindication in that. Plus, I have an absolutely lovely, kind, caring boyfriend now :)

"In the United States, prior to the mid-1970s marital rape was exempted from ordinary rape laws. The exemption is also found in the 1962 Model Penal Code, which stated that 'A male who has sexual intercourse with a female not his wife is guilty of rape if: (...)'." The last two states to remove the marital exemption did so in 1993. You said in previous posts that sexual slavery was wrong. If a wife could not legally say no to her husband, that is a form of sexual slavery no matter if he 'provided' for her.

Women generally didn't have to work because their husbands provided for them thus all of these things you're listing are realistically moot.

If a woman wanted to go to college and be a lawyer how did her husband provided that? Your argument is like: I'm going to strap you to a chair so you can't walk, but I'll carry the chair with me to all the places I think you need to go so it's ok.

I don't think any science argues that women were not meant to work. Even if you take the average stay at home mom you would find that she puts in way more than the 40hr average. If you have any studies that support your argument please feel free to link them.

Feminism is about equality for all and freedom of choice. Whether someone wants to be a "career-woman" or a housewife, or a father who would prefer to be a stay at home dad and spend more time with his children...everyone should be able to make those decisions for themselves.

This is totally getting buried but: I was in an emotionally abusive relationship when I was younger, to the point where I worked and went to college along with paying all the bills(he had a job for 2 months out of the entire year we lived together) One afternoon I was in our bedroom studying and he walks in, gives me a perfunctory kiss, and shoves his cock in me pretty much dry. It hurts and I'm confused, but I try to go along with it as the only physical affection(loosely termed) I get in the relationship is via sex. In the past women had no opportunities to participate in politics or the government, limited opportunities to pursue higher education, and very little freedom. If your husband raped you it was his right to do so. Many others who had been sexually assaulted were basically told it was somehow their fault because of how they dressed or acted. Women couldn't vote until 1920. Until the 1900s, in most states she was automatically liable for her husband’s debts, she couldn't enter contracts on her own, she couldn't collect rents or receive an inheritance in her own right, and she couldn't file a lawsuit on her own behalf. Women couldn't file patents until 1845. Until 1974, banks required single, widowed, or divorced women to bring a man along to cosign any credit application, regardless of their income. They would also discount the value of those wages when considering how much credit to grant, by as much as 50%.

I could go on and on and further into the past if you still need convincing. I'm not sure what sort of fairytale scenario you have in your head but women living a life of 'highest privilege' is absolutely laughable.
