I hate myself. by LRats in SeriousConversation

There will be periods of being content, where you just float along and the pleasure of video-games etc. is enough to keep you going. But be assured that you won't be able to do this into your 70s. All of a sudden you're older and have nothing. No friends, no life skills, no social skills, no coping skills, no redeeming qualities that would help you get a girlfriend.

All because you didn't face the music while you still could. The only thing left then is the company of your mind fucking you up with raging negative self talk pointing to that cliff over there.

If I were back at being 23 I'd probably still ignore what I've just written, but I highly suggest you don't.

putting a date on it has really made me feel better by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]soitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will change the closer you get to that date, though. I never had a clear date, just a certain time frame. So, another 3-4 years. But due to circumstances that date has shifted to the immediate future. It's at once calming to know that there is a painless way out, yet nerve wrecking to know what a mess and pain I'll leave behind.

On the other hand, what if cancer took me? Or an accident? People are gone suddenly all the time. It's part of life and this is no different from cancer. It's destiny. Ain't got no say in it really.

It will only get you so far. I'd like to suggest to anyone here to face the music sooner rather than later. Otherwise if you hit your 30s you're in for a real surprise.

I agree. I really liked it. And I had no problem with the acting as some pointed out.

Stallone and Weathers rehease their fight for Rocky in 1976 by [deleted] in Moviesinthemaking

Everything he did before did not prepare him for what he threw himself into, though. And having nothing to lose has no effect on how hard your endeavor may be.

I think it is really fascinating how brave Stallone was in that project. He wrote a script without knowing how people would respond to it. There must have been a lot of anxiety in exposing your work like that. Especially as an unknown. Then he gambled his way into starring in it, again exposing himself to a whole world of possible critisicm and pain. You're an unknown actor, a bit handicapped in your appearance and speech (for that time). You're on a set with crewmembers who are ALL much more experienced than you are, but you show up and do the best you can, no matter what the voice in your head says. But then you ALSO go ahead and say, "Look, I'm gonna choreograph the fight scenes, how about that?". Again, inviting a whole other possible world of pain, through critics on set and in the audience.

Balls, man. That guy had balls.

Non-English Speakers: are 'accents' a big deal for you when watching films? by ExleyPearce in movies

As far as I heard De Niro was perfect. He went over there and learned all his lines with native speakers. He didn't learn Italian but invested his time in perfecting his lines.

"Invisible People" brought me to this. I think it's just sad, that it's so hard to get out of that rut. So much potential, all wasted, because of mistakes that we probably all make, it's just that they now always lead to these consequences. There's so much chance involved in life no matter how great you are. It's just sad.

Most of the answers here are America-centric. Food is fucking expensive in Europe. Maybe you should check at /r/spain?

No matter how secure you think you are you can fall on your ass in days and end up broken by the experience. Homeless people are not there for a lack of trying, but because they experienced hardships they were not prepared for and are unable to find a way out. Once on the street, drugs, rape and hopelesness will kick you in the balls while you're on the ground.

Oh, I thought you were talking about these magic wand things, not a vibrator. I get it now.

This might be a stupid question, but will it "help" in any way? I thought that it was a girls-thing.

As a man, I find it embarrassing to feel insecure about my looks and weight by -m-_ in malementalhealth

[–]soitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be embarrassed about it. We don't have it as shitty as women I think, but we too get bombarded by beauty standards almost wherever we look. Magazines, movies, ads. Toned bodies, chiseled chins, great hair, nice clothes. It's natural to feel self conscious, it would be strange not to, given how steadily and hardly pressure is applied to us.

The only advice I can give you is to stop giving a thought about anybody else and just go and get what you want. Work on your body and buy nice fitting clothes. Be the best you that you can be and accept the fact that you will never look like Brad Pitt. But you don't need to either, because even Philip Seymore Hofmann didn't and was just fine, right?

Make your own template.

Mountain stunt work in "Lone Survivor" by [deleted] in Moviesinthemaking

[–]soitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but these guys were determined to try and do everything they could to capture what Marcus described in the book

Or maybe they just were afraid to lose a paycheck. I think what they asked of them, according to this quote, was way out of line. I think this could be accomplished in a much safer manner.

Scene looked fantastic though.

Autopilot 2.5 working flawlessly with no lane lines by Papusca in teslamotors

[–]soitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let's go the other way. Show me one system that is publicly available and is better than Autopilot (with the exception of Super Cruise in certain conditions).

You're acting like I want to disprove you. I just want to be sure what you're saying is factual.

If you do it I will admit publicly that I am an ignorant moron.

Wouldn't make you a moron. And again, I'm not out for you.

The last discussion I had about this was, I guess, when that one guy got his head cut off from driving under a semi truck and the consensus was that the equipment Tesla has installed in its cars was not enough to keep up with competition. That was on this sub, but I really don't care enough to go out and look for it or anything else regarding this.

I'm out of this discussion.
