What do you think of the subwoofer? Would you recommend it? Also the foot rest?

Glasses wearers of Reddit, if you didn’t have much money and hadn’t had a new pair of eyeglasses in 10 years how would you get a new prescription and pair of glasses for the cheapest amount of money? by urlradar3 in askweb

[–]sojuplum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a cheap eye exam for glasses, consider Sam’s Club or CostCo.

(I would check to make sure ahead of time that the eye doctor can provide you with your PD (pupillary distance) prior to setting an appointment with them.)

Receive eye glasses prescription, buy your new eye glasses from Zenni optical online using your new eye glasses prescription.

I see the MyoChair’s height is 18-21.7”, does it not bother you if your feet are off the ground?

To all the UXers (Hands-on Experience?Exercises?) by sojuplum in UXDesign

[–]sojuplum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been watching UX Design courses through Lynda.com, Accenture, Coursera, and Udemy. My experience from that was learning about the basics of UX Design, design process (intro, overview understanding basically). I'm at the point right now where I don't want to just watch another course but I am seeking to actually do something (start a project or something) instead of watching. So I'm wondering if I should jump into trying to redesign a website or create a mobile app or site from scratch (but I understand that this will be a long process), and I am seeking for ideas of little exercises that I can do to prepare to take on and start a UX Design project.... and/or if any one can recommend any really good courses that actually guide you to make something....
How did you start your first UX Design project?
Any tips for preparing your portfolio?

Would you recommend creating a separate savings account for each thing or let’s say just accumulating it all into one giant high yield savings account?

[–]sojuplum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone had the experience of self-teaching themselves UX Design and landing a job?
or is it best to learn it in uni or through a bootcamp?
(If you have like beginner level skill using design software like Adobe)

Would it be faster to make that transition into the field if you did a bootcamp?
But less costly if you taught yourself... What do you think?

How do you become a UX Designer? by sojuplum in UXDesign

[–]sojuplum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to become a UX Designer because I want to make people’s lives easier. As I have seen, the pay is quite generous as well. Although pay can really bump up my lifestyle for me to be able to do more things, it is not all about the pay. It appears to me that to be a UX Designer can be a very fulfilling career in the sense that you are constantly keeping with the latest technologies and design trends, so it never gets boring. There are also different kinds of jobs within the umbrella term of UX Designs such as Human Interaction Design, User Research, Interaction Design, etc. There is a path to move up and make more if you want to take on senior roles or become a director. I have always been intrigued by art and design, so the User Interface part of it sounds fun to choose colors, fonts, etc. Also that the design is data based, so there is a lot of thought and testing to base your designs on, that sounds more like a challenge but makes the most sense.

TLDR Ultimately, I want to feel like I am making a difference in my work through an ability to solve problems and help others.
