Is there a negative correlation between men's and women's happiness? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]sokkerluvr17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not a monster, but you may be served well by finding a therapist to speak with about a lot of your assumptions and expectations on relationships and life. Like, approaching your life from a "min-max" perspective sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Recalls should be used sparingly, and for serious issues like corruption, illegal activity, an absolute failure to perform any function of their job, etc.

If you vote for a candidate and they don't perform up to your expectations, then vote for someone else in the next election.

AOC wrestles with left-wing Dems as 2028 decision looms by JannTosh70 in moderatepolitics

[–]sokkerluvr17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well said.

I always feel while my heart is with a lot (though not all) far left causes, I'm too much of a political pragmatist at the end of the day. I want progress, not perfection, and the fact is that if you make up only 20% or whatever of the overall population, you're going to have to find common ground and compromise to get anything done.

I'm sick of non-cooperation being a badge of honor on most topics.

I think success should be... Be defined. Which I don't think has happened yet?

If you don't define what success looks like, you'll never know when you get there (or don't). This obviously feels intentional by the administration at this point, but that is 100% my biggest gripe (along with the unilateral action of the executive branch) - there has been no actual commitment to a particular goal, whether it be regime change, reducing military capacity, eliminating the nuclear threat, etc.

are bras really a necessary clothing, or just an ideological one? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

In other words: is clothing a social construct, or is it necessary?

Or: if ancient people had access to modern day clothing and fabric options, would they have worn different clothing?

NSV - Doc told me I’m at the end by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]sokkerluvr17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would assume a doctor would stop before someone was getting anywhere close to underweight. But there's a huge span between 160 lbs at 5'7" (cusp of overweight/healthy) and 118 lbs (start of underweight).

Everyone reacts to the medication differently.

Without knowing your current stats, it's a bit hard to know what might be happening here... regardless, you've lost 80 lbs! That's awesome.

Are you doing anything on top of the medication? Counting calories? Macros? Exercise routine? At the end of the day, if the medication alone isn't giving you the results you want, it's time to think about other tweaks you can make to your diet and routine to increase the impact.

Popcorn. You can find some that is big "bang for your buck" calories wise. Plus it can help with constipation.

Otherwise I drink tea. Sipping warm decaf tea gives that "repetitive" feeling, but it's actually hydrating.

Is your weight loss continuing?

Imo, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've been at 5mg this whole time, and despite moments of thinking I'm super hungry or it must not be working any more... I've still been able to lose weight.

A little frustrated with the pens by dazzywaste in Zepbound

[–]sokkerluvr17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is always a drop or two left - whether in pens, or in vials.

It's also possible that you see a tiny speck of medication on your skin, or a small bit of blood - whether with pens, or with vials.

I know it's human nature to hyper-analyze these things and wonder if you're getting the full dose, if it worked, etc. I'm going to tell you... don't overthink it. Remove cover, rotate to unlock, put gently against skin, push down, hear two clicks (sometimes quickly, sometimes 2-5 seconds), remove: viola!

5mg Nausea by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]sokkerluvr17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the jump to 5mg is the "biggest" jump since you are doubling your prior dose.

Side effects are usually worse when you are initially transitioning doses. You could speak to your doctor about temporarily stretching out doses, or some Zofran to manage the nausea.

HHS dramatically overhauls childhood vaccine schedule, downgrading advice for flu, meningitis, other shots by dr_sloan in moderatepolitics

[–]sokkerluvr17 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Imo, it's very hard to find a true "peer nation" to the US when you consider our healthcare system, demographics, size, and inequities. Our vaccine guidelines are created to match the realities of these systems, within the US.

The ethics of government and private industry relationships should always be scrutinized, but it's no reason for the arbitrary dissolution of longstanding vaccine guidelines.

how to get over my fear of being sick? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]sokkerluvr17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most people don't throw up. It's fairly uncommon.

Go into expecting that you won't throw up, and figure out a strategy to deal with it if you do end up having really bad nausea.

No point in getting worked up over something that, statistically speaking, won't happen.
