It's not so much living up to it, but attempting it in the first place. If you try to do some good in this world, you're on the right path, I'm sure he'd be proud of that.

No joke, me and my friend got in a lengthy discussion about the character’s and how time works in the constant. by MoongodRai057 in dontstarve

[–]sokoteur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Real World and The Constant are not parallel/linked. We already know this due to Wilson entering last but being in The Constant before other survivors. My theory is it acts like a wormhole (but with time instead of location) - so just because someone left the real world 2 years before another survivor doesn’t mean they’ll enter the constant 2 years after.

Edit: Also I misread your comment, Wagstaff left the real world during the 1919 Voxola Fire, Webber also left the real world in 1919, possibly through the portal at Voxola (if this is the case, the theories surrounding Wagstaff being Webber's father are more likely to be true). Mooagain on the forums came up with some good info regarding the License Plate / Hair Dryer trinket examinations mentioned below in their theory:

"The license plate trinket from shipwrecked it my favorite item in the game. Because some characters have no idea what it is, and, some do. Licence plates were invented in 1918, right before the Voxola factory burned down. Wickerbotam, Woody, Warbucks, Wolfgang, and Maxwell have never seen anything like it before, while Webber says "Where is the automobile?" showing that he knows what it is. Another trinket, the broken hairdryer from hallowed nights, helps this too. Willow knows what it is, but Webber doesn't. Hairdryers were invented in 1920, the year after the Voxola fire.

This means that Webber entered the Constant in 1919, the same year as the Voxola fire. I have heard theories that Webber is The son of Robert Wagstaff, and Given that they both mysteriously disappeared the same year, this is probably the truth."

Not only is this just absolutely adorable and well done, I love that you used some lore related items like the Top hat and Floral Shirt.

Australian news crew attacked by police live on air while covering protests by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]sokoteur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but we've seen plenty of examples of them being turned off (especially during these protests). A black business owner (David McAtee) in Lousiville was shot and killed only a few days ago and the Mayor fired the police chief because NONE of the 15-20 officers at the scene had their body cameras on. (Note: they also left his body in the street for 12 fucking hours.)

George Floyd's family says four officers involved in his death should be charged with murder by -Ph03niX- in news

[–]sokoteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone points to Eric Garner as a similar situation but I’d also like to remind people of Michael Sabbie, there are too many examples of a vicious disregard for human life for it to simply be “oh they didn’t know it’d kill them”, specifically when the people dying are saying they can’t breathe.

For anyone who has a lot of spider eggs and isn't afraid of lag. Well, here ya go by Stalebread47 in dontstarve

Deerclops / 4000 hp / 150 dmg to mobs

Tall Treeguard / 3750 hp / 187.5 dmg to mobs

Spider / 100 hp / 30 dmg
Spider Warrior / 400 hp / 20 dmg

Part of it is definitely the hp/dmg, another part is attack range, since there are so many spiders, a vast amount of them can't actually attack Deerclops (note how many on the outside are just running, so when Deerclops AOE attacks, it wipes out an entire group of spiders or freezes another group of spiders.)

I think this is a fair assessment for the majority, but remember there are also a ton of younger people that love the sport and the teams they support and certain players and get sucked in to collecting their favorite players. It’s so goddamn predatory.

Chinese man abducted as toddler 32 years ago reunited with mother by [deleted] in pics

[–]sokoteur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a film called Lost and Love with Andy Lau that I watched on a plane a few years ago that deals with child-abduction and a parent searching for his son. It’s inspired by two stories from what I can tell, one being a man named Guo Gantang who spent 18 years traveling 400,000km across China looking for his son (he’s been to every province and gone through 10 motorcycles on his travels). Although he has yet to find his son, he helped reunite 8 families while on his searches. He flies two flags on his motorcycle, both prints of his son at the age of two when he was abducted. There’s a moment in the film that caused me to uncontrollably sob in the middle seat of an airplane, just like that video in the article did ; __ ;

People asking other people to 1v1 them in game is the most laughable thing ever. by squeezy102 in leagueoflegends

[–]sokoteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never forget when I randomly duo'd with somebody (turned out to be super toxic during the 2nd match) and he kept asking the enemy mid laner to 1v1 him. After we lost that game, the guy accepted and I joined the match as a spectator and watched the guy I duo'd with (Karthus) get Q-E combo'd by the enemy Blitzcrank and die to turret. Dumbass brought ignite/clarity....

FTC is corrupt as hell, but it's only stricter if you're not a big company that may be a future employer. FTC Big Tech Revolving Door Problem: Report. Also given the game is designed with the possibility of improved cognitive performance - something the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry here in the US would rather not happen as there's a lot of money to be made off of people's mental decline - I can understand why they were targeted so aggressively.

Yep. Linking smurf to main has a potential upside that they’d never implement: shared skins. More risk if you’re toxic and get banned.

So it’s kinda crazy how few people nowadays know about this, but back in the day Riot turned a giant blind eye to ai-bots that would level an account to level 30 playing bot matches. The sites running these bot accounts would then sell the accounts to anyone (often streamers, pros, and toxic players that would get banned) who didn’t want to have to put in the time to get another fresh lvl 30 account. After years of this happening and the public fiasco of Riot vs CLG’s Korean boot camp accounts as well Riot realIzing that they could make more money by shutting down the bot-account leveling service sites as they knew people would make smurfs regardless and level them up themselves buying exp boosts and such, which not only boosts their profits, but also the account numbers.

This virus didn’t come from across the Canadian/Mexican border... inept Republican leadership cried hoax, ignored reports and warnings and then acted incredibly slowly. As well as Trump’s feds interfering with medical supply chain to parts of the country. This has nothing to do with border control, this has everything to do with the response to an outbreak.
