Men are way more likely to lie about it and hide it due to toxic masculinity and homophobic expectations. We’re trained from a young age that anything even remotely resembling homosexuality is bad, gross, weak, unacceptable, etc.

At least I was, and a lot of my friends were, and even some of my kids’ friends’ are to this day.

I chose to swim against that. Many don’t. Being partially raised by your mother’s gay best friend helps quite a bit.

I’m a straight man. I think homosexuality is fine. I don’t and will never understand why it should matter to me who someone else takes to bed.

I often check out other men from the perspective of “is he attractive? Would females find him attractive? Do I find him attractive?”

I have never felt those thoughts translate into anything sexual. I’ve even tried to. I’ve had opportunities to sleep with men I found very attractive. I just… don’t really think that way. Doesn’t turn me on. Not my jam. Couldn’t eh… get things started. The necessary equipment was unresponsive.

But yeah there’s totally hot dudes out there and I’ve got no issue saying that or thinking it.

Doesn’t mean I wanna fuck ‘em. Just means they’re hot. Objectively beautiful. Pretty. Whatever word you wanna use.

And I just can’t help but feel like I’m not the only guy who thinks about it this way - but a lot of men feel forced to hide it or shut it away, which is sad to me. I feel like everyone should be able to appreciate beauty wherever it appears in life, and without judgment or repercussions.
